[email protected]
Can someone help me with a question please?...... I did my first Whole30 no problem with no mistakes and on that day 30 I decided to continue and do a second round of whole30 - (so a whole60), but tonight I slipped and I didn't read a can of something I thought was compliant. I'm now on day 34 and I don't know if this means I have to go all the way back to day 1 or just go back to day 30 and restart the second round of whole 30 again (with day 31)? The reason for the extension was because I'm dealing with hypothyroidism for 16 years and I'm still craving sugar at times. I'm so upset with myself !! Suggestions please.... Brewer5
Whether a re-start is required or not... depends on what your "slip" was? If it was sugar, a re-start is not required. Just keep on truckin' and reading labels.
[email protected]
It was half a can of Healthy Valley's Organic No Salt Tomato Soup -it included : Filtered water, organic tomato puree, organic tomatoes, organic tomato paste, organic evaporated cane juice, organic unsalted butter (organic cream [from milk]), organic brown rice flour, organic onion powder, organic acacia gum, citric acid, organic garlic powder, organic black pepper, ascorbic acid. If I have to start over do I go back to day 1 OR start the "second" whole 30 again??
GFChris
That soup, unfortunately, had 3 non-compliant ingredients - the cane juice (sugar), butter, and rice flour. Whole30 general rules say if you go off-plan, you have to restart, but please read this article for further context. http://whole30.com/2014/06/really-start-whole30/ In your case, I would consider starting the "second" whole30 again, as the idea is to have 30 consecutive days free of non-compliant ingredients. [email protected]
I did complete the whole30 with all compliant foods, so after reading the link you sent and valuing your opinion I am going to restart the "second" Whole 30. The point of any elimination diet is to completely remove 100% of the potentially problematic foods from your life for a full 30 days straight, this I did so I need to move on get past being angry at myself for failing to read a label. I should have known better at this stage of the game. Thank you for your time.

This. You already did one whole30, you DID! If you decided you want to do a second one, and that's great too. Your mistake is a tiny blip. Here's to 59 days of better food and better health!
