Cici
Hi everyone! I did great with my first whole30, actually went for whole 60 without problems. That was January/February. Since then, I've been struggling. I've tried to start new rounds but without success. I really want to get back on track - I felt so much better on whole30! Any tips for subsequent rounds? Anyone else find them more difficult than the first time? Cici
MercitaGirl
Hi - I am in the exact same boat as you- I did a whole 45 last Oct - absolutely loved it. I lost about 15 pounds and have kept it off but am struggling with sugar. Have had many unsuccessful attempts at starting another Whole30 - have made it as far as day 8 and that's it. I start out great then start sneaking things in like cream in my coffee, then frozen yogurt and then I'm doomed I love love love how I feel when I'm on Whole30 and need to make it happen. I think what's missing for me is accountability- so would you be willing to buddy up- and anyone else out there wanting a restart?? Let me know and let's do this!! cewdressage
I did a successful Whole30 in April/May this past year. It was great and I felt amazing. However, after a trip to Guatemala my eating took a huge nosedive. I had to eat whatever I was given when I was there and I was in an area where many of the fruits and veggies were not safe. Grains for breakfast (pancakes), lunch (sandwich), and dinner (tortillas, rice, etc...) left me constantly hungry and in a terrible place. I knew I needed to start a Whole30 when I got back, but it took me 3 weeks of starting and failing before I finally got here, on day 14. I think part of the issue was that the "new-ness" of the Whole30 wasn't there. The first time I was so determined to complete the darn thing, and reach a new goal, that I was able to really dig in and get through the hard times without ever restarting. But this time around, even though I really wanted to succeed, a part of me just wasn't as excited about sticking with it because it was a goal I had already accomplished. It had already been checked off the list, so to speak. I finally had to make myself realize that this Whole30 is completely different from the last one and is indeed something new and separate that I needed to conquer. My body and mind are in different place than they were last time around and I have different reasons for starting this one than the last one. So far so good... MercitaGirl
So I was doing fantastic until today- lack of planning killed my good intentions. I am learning as I go and what I know is this: the not so good choices (choices not cheats!) are few and far between compared to preWhole 9 Life which I am grateful for. I do not dwell on food any longer, and knowing that my next meal will be healthy is a bonus!! So I pick myself up and keep on keepin' on!!
dizzo19
I'm in the same boat. I did a whole30 and I've slipped into bad habits again -- binging on sweets at night. I was so happy when I was on the Whole30 plan and I want to feel that way again. I'm having trouble starting my second Whole30. I need help!!! Tanya K
Mercitagirl are you getting enough fat? I found that I too had cravings when I started paleo first. I would find sugar through my juices! I drank lots of homemade juice within the first 3 weeks of being paleo! Then in the evenings I would always snack on cashews and other nuts! Like I had to have them! Then came to the weekends where I would allow one treat, which would be a piece of ice cream normally. On first becoming paleo I had serious detox symptoms from sugar withdrawals, we are talking almost drug like withdrawals!! I was also starving even after a proper meal!! Tummy rumbling and everything! All tricks of the brain to try to fool you into eating sugar I think anyway lol!! So, she I started the whole 30 and was eating the proper amounts of fat that I certainly was eating before well all cravings for snacks, and sugar dissolved completely! I personally find the most effective sources of fat to be avocado and coconut flakes. You don't even think of food come the evening time. I also started to knit again in the evenings having a cup of green tea. This too I think has helped break the sugar dragon snacking habit. I think sometimes we have to replace one habit by another habit. We are creatures of habit by nature. Without habit we would become extinct! So it is a matter of finding a new healthy habit. Brain doesn't like it at first but then becomes submissive! :-)
meili
Hi Cici and Mercitagirl, I went through the exact same experience and had many failed round2 attempts, at most it lasted 6 days and i gave in to all the non-compliant food and worse off, I started a habit of mindless snacking which I am determined to break. I am am serious in starting my round 2 again on 21/9, this time I must make it through the 30days!
Cici
Diet coke may be my downfall. Usually the cravings go away after a few days but I'm still fighting the desire for diet coke! Cici
MercitaGirl
Hi everyone- hope you are all doing great! I'm realizing that I am just not ready to commit 100% and am accepting this. The GOOD new is that I am taking this one day at a time- and making good choices (some not so good) however these are fewer and far between. My relationship with food has changed forever thanks to Whole30 and I am so grateful for this and for all of you and the support I feel. Happy Friday!!☀️
