Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 15, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 15, 2012 You can snack if you are hungry. However, your hormones will function best if you eat your first meal within an hour of waking and then space your next meals 4 to 5 hours apart. Snacking influences your hormones and those changes are not ideal. Also, we encourage people to eat mini-meals as snacks - protein, fat, and veggies. The purpose of eating is to provide your body with nourishment and veggies are incomplete nourishment. Good food, yes, but not all you need. Another problem with snacking on veggies is that you can stay in eating mode too many hours of the day. This encourages mindless eating. One purpose of the Whole30 is develop a new relationship with food and learn to avoid mindless eating, eating because of boredom, etc.
