kirkor
Not sure if this is the right sub-forum, but figured it was worth a shot. I like the idea of once our systems have been reset and adjusted to good food etc. it then becomes more feasible to 'eat based on hunger' ... I was wondering what different people define as 'hunger'? Is it the 'hey I feel like I'd like to have some food' or is it actual *audible* stomach growling? Even after a full 'hunger signal' reset, I'm wondering if an audible growl would be too far past the 'proper' time to eat?
amy3509
This is something you have to play around with and determine for yourself. I have found for me personally it is ideal for me to eat when I feel hunger in my stomach but it hasn't been there very long. It I wait until I am super hungry and growling I will overeat and eat too fast to give my brain a chance to catch up. My stomach doesn't really growl until I am beyond hungry, but perhaps yours does sooner. Such a personal thing to try to find an objective measure for. I think what whole30 and paleo - along withs some emotional work learning to chill out and emotionally detach a bit from food -did for me was to allow me to go longer stretches and to not obsess over food. Once you can get to a place where food isn't all you think about, you will be able to trust your body to tell you when to eat and you won't have to overthink the cues bit.
