mamajustina
I am on Day 10 of 30. Things are going fine. The cooking isn't an issue, I don't feel hungry or inclined to cheat at all. BUT, at 10 days, I am definitely not feeling anywhere near good. When I started this, I was someone who ate VERY well, but had a sugar addiction. I binge on sugar in a way that I can't seem to control-- can't just have a little...But, my digestion and sleep was great; I was worried about the sugar for my overall health and weight, but not doing it for much more than a clean-up of that. Since my Day 1, 10 days ago, though, I have had (SORRY!) soft, wet stool everyday, multiple times a day. My sleep is interrupted by waking and bad dreams. I feel abnormally tired and I'm not seeing any skin or other health benefits. Squarely, NOTHING is improving... I get the idea behind waiting it out and doing your best until you see some change, but from everything I read, I am not having a typical experience. Am I doing something wrong? Administrators ladyshanny Posted September 17, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 17, 2014 My guess...and don't quote me, I'm sure a moderator will weigh in, is that your body is in the midst of the big switch from sugar/carb burner over to fat burner. It's not an awesome process at first but it does get better as you go along! Ten days is only a third of the way.....stay strong, stick to the template and trust the process! Whether it's actually based in science or not, I think the bad dreams and poor sleep and night sweats (you didn't mention it but I've had them) are a result of withdrawal from sugar. Moderators ShannonM816 Posted September 17, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 17, 2014 You should probably list out a couple of days' worth of food, water intake, activity level, and sleep, so that you can get better suggestions of things that might need tweaking. Also, google Whole30 timeline for more of what to expect -- it sounds like you're right on target. (I would link to the timeline, but for some reason it's not letting me paste things or create links . I'm on a computer at work, I think they need to run some updates because other stuff isn't working right either .)
mamajustina
Thanks, ladyshanny! I think what you said about the fat burning stuff is right on, and I am planning on Waiting And Seeing, but I have gone sugar free before and never had issues like these! Thanks for the pep, though! mamajustina
I wake up, take my thyroid medication and then 30-45 minutes later, eat breakfast. mamajustina
I have read the Timeline, but those things are all about your cravings-- and I don't have that at all. I don't feel like it's hard. I feel like I'm sick all the time- this near-diarrhea after 10 days seems extreme...and depleting. In fact, I though the Timeline says that around Days 7-8, those things are starting to ease up...I have had no easing up...
Carlaccini
Okay. There are reasons this is a 30 day program. So please do give it time. You are only 1/3 of the way there. You meals look pretty good with the exception that you seem to leave out the fat in your meals 2 and 3. Keep in mind that most cooking fats get left in the pan unless you add them over your food when you serve them up. This could be contributing to your lack of energy. The loose stools - I wouldn't worry about this too terribly much. I have been eating mainly like this for a couple of years now and I will still have weeks where my stools are looser than normal. I generally don't panic too much about it. On a personal note - I have issues with avocadoes - they seriously cause me distress and yes diarrhea (I know TMI). I know you are not the same as me. But it might be worth it to consider eliminating them for a few days and then re-introing them and see how you react.
jent103
Is there anything you're suddenly eating a lot of now that you weren't before? For what it's worth, at day 10 I was basically just back to feeling okay, after the carb flu and all that. I didn't feel anywhere near great. The timeline is pretty accurate generally, but individual experiences vary.
