Deli meats/dextrose

I need some edumacation...
I know sugars are out.  Anything with *ose is derived from sugar.  I know dextrose is from corn sugars.  So I have avoided anything with that on the label.

BUT... I'm noticing something to the effect of this: "contains 2% or less of dextrose, etc." on processed meats, even "natural" meats.  But then it will list nothing under total carbs sugars (although it does says a low percentage under dietary fiber) in the Nutrition Fact.  What gives?

Food manufacturers also know these limits, and will intentionally engineer a product to have juuuuuust under the amount so that they can say "ZERO GRAMS TRANS FAT!"  etc.

Those products most certainly ARE allowed to contain trans fats -- but if it is under a certain amount, they do not have to report it.  They can "round down", as melbournegirl said.  It's ridiculous.

One more reason to just stick to real, whole foods.
