Starbucks. NOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!

I was very innocently driving my son and I back from a morning at the park, when I pulled up to the intersection that would A. take me straight home or B. turn right into Starbucks.  I swear time stopped.  My eyes glazed over; I could hear a roar in my ears; I could smell sweet sweet vanilla and coffee beans (mind you, I only ever get sugar-free!); and I think I literally smacked my lips.  Thank the sweet (ha!) Lord, the light turned green and my right foot stomped down on the gas before my hands could make up their mind.

When I checked the rearview mirror, I saw the knobby green tail of the Sugar Dragon as it slunk away to attack some other poor fool.

So, now, here I am.  A little singed, but still standing.

It's funny how habit and external cues can set us off.  I still kind of want to stop at McD's for a filet o fish during Lent even though I haven't had one in years and years and know they are actually disgusting tasting (choose to believe they changed the recipe and not that my childhood taste buds were that bad).  Good job getting through it!

Funny!

I just finished my Whole 30 (today!) and i went to Starbucks several times.  Iced Coffee is tooo good to pass up on in the summer!  I can't believe I like their coffee black now!

Do those donuts on your avatar ever tempt you?  :D

Do you think they might tempt others?

This has happened to me too a number of times these last couple of weeks. In these moments, I would have to squeeze the steering wheel to keep my hands from turning into the parking lot. Prior to Whole30, I used to live walking distance to a Starbucks and would go almost every day. I am on day 19 and although I still have cravings for Starbucks, I no longer have such dramatic episodes with the dragon. He is soon to be slayed!
