Food Should Taste Good chips

Has anyone inquired about Food Should Taste Good chips? The ingredients for the original sweet potato chips are just sweet potatoes, sea salt, and sunflower oil. I know chips are not the mindset of whole30 because they tend towards the bottomless feeding frenzy thing, but maybe this would be a good "off-plan" snack? Is it still technically compliant for these off-roading moments?

Here is the official word on "chips":

Chips or Fries: Not if they’re commercially prepared or deep-fried While we recognize that potatoes are a real food, we also know that eating them in the form of fries and chips has turned them from “produce” into an adulterated commercial “product.” It’s easy to find sweet potato, beet, or vegetable chips or restaurant fries that meet the Whole30 ingredient standards. It is not easy, however, to consume those fries or chips in a way that’s true to the spirit of the Whole30. It’s hard to find a suitable place for them in our meal planning template (no, half a bag of “Sweets and Beets” is not an appropriate way to fill your plate with vegetables), and even harder to stop yourself from eating them when the designated serving comes to an end. For most of us, chips and fries are a bonafide food-with-no-brakes, and fall into that deep, dark area of less-healthy foods with technically compliant ingredients. For that reason we do not allow commercially-prepared fries or chips, or deep-frying starchy veggies and turning them into fries or chips during your Whole30. (However, if you want to roast some kale until it’s crispy, or thinly slice jicama into a scoop for your guacamole, be our guest.)

Right- I said I wasn't intending to eat them during my whole30 for this very reason. I was asking about off-plan specifically as a better option.

Ah, that makes more sense. Post-whole30, it is really up to you to figure out if something works or doesn't work for you...we don't really discuss "less bad, but still off-plan" options on the boards. That said, maybe this will help you decide? http://whole9life.com/2011/04/whole9s-guide-to-nutritional-off-roading/

I just finished my second Whole30 and I will warn you about these off plan snacks.  I found out that i had to be gluten free, which meant I can eat anything that wasn't gluten, right?  WELL, I love those chips too.  But they are addictive (for me).  Addictive like all the things I didn't eat in my whole 30 are addictive.  If you feel comfortable eating these snacks in moderation, sure, why not?  But it sunk my happy "Whole30 unicorns and rainbows" ship the first time around, and I'm the wiser this time.  I'm learning more about my food relationships.  Pay attention to how your body and mind feel.  Roll with that.

Agree with everything said above.

However if you can eat chips when you are off plan and its ok for you, these are the best as they are cooked in coconut oil.  Honest Chips.

You can order them on Amazon. I rarely see them in stores unless its an indie health food store.

I don't eat them myself as they are FWOB but my nutritionist told me about them,.
