RGJax2014
I know that Whole30 isn't about fasting, but there are occasions, medical and religious, where one must. So, staring down the barrel of a 24 hour complete fast, what are strategies to make it easier within the Whole30 compliant structure? Do I up my veggie carbs or lower them the day before the fast? Any suggestions, successful strategies? Thanks!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 2, 2014 Because the Whole30 plan is for participants to eat three meals per day with additional meals pre- and post-workout, the Whole30 does not include any advice for how to make the best of a fast. The Whole30 was never meant to be part of your ongoing life, but a special period of 30 days where you go to to extremes to learn important things about your relationship to food and how it effects you. I recommend that you schedule a Whole30 when you will not have a conflict with a requirement to fast for medical or religious reasons.
prairieportia
I have a similar question. I am just coming off of my first Whole 30. It went OK--I did not notice any dramatic changes, and lost very little weight (a couple of pounds, maybe). I am trying to continue to eat in this way, following the "is it worth it?" analysis for off-plan eating. I, too, am looking at a 24-hour fast this weekend. Understanding that I am not doing a Whole 30 at the moment, but still want to reap the benefits of a generally paleo/primal way of eating, do you have any advice for the fast? Thank you. kirkor
You're going to feel hungry no matter what, but to game it somewhat just make sure to have a good meal late towards when the 24h window will start, make it a good bolus of macros to slow down absorption, and then just the standard fasting advice of drink water, stay active (i.e. not just sitting around thinking about food), etc etc.
