AmyS Posted October 3, 2014 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Ajinomoto is a company, not a product. However, most of what they produce would be off limits on a Whole30. They make msg and aspartame, for instance, both of which are out on Whole30. I tend to associate the name ajinomoto with msg, but their Wikipedia article indicates they make other lovely chemically things as well. Do a double-check of what's in your particular ajinomoto product, and if needed, add two days to your Whole30. Easy peasy. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

annabel Posted October 3, 2014 Share Posted October 3, 2014 If it's some sort of asian food though, it will almost definitely be MSG. Restaurants in Japan (and less commonly in other parts of Asia) have jars on the table of ajinomoto in the same way that Western restaurants have salt and pepper and I'm fairly sure that the Japanese word for MSG is ajinomoto.
