weeyin13
Hi. I've just finished day 3 of my whole30. Doing ok and sticking to it. I am waiting on allergy test results at the moment as I've had to take antihistamines for the past 7 months due to a reaction to my skin- itchy lumps that burst. Possibly dairy or/and coeliac the docs say ????? I am hoping doing the whole30 will help this. I stopped taking my antihistamine drugs on day 1. I've survived til now but I am a bit itchy. Hopefully the itchiness will subside over the 30 days at least that's what I'm holding out for. If things get worse can I take my antihistamines without ruining my whole30 plan. Any advice would be appreciated
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 3, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 3, 2014 Yes, you can take antihistamines. There may be some consequences. I hear that antihistamines can reduce stomach acid which can make digestion more difficult. Not everyone will have a problem, but it is something to be aware of. I don't encourage people to jump into a specialized Whole30, but you may want to look at the low histamine approach to eating. There is some basic info at http://whole9life.com/2013/06/expanded-iswf-shopping-lists/ and the specialized shopping list is here: http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-shopping-list-histamine.pdf It wouldn't hurt to emphasize the safe foods and avoid the high-histamine foods from the shopping list to the extent you can. weeyin13
Thank you for your help. That's puts my mind at rest that I won't ruin everything if I need to take them. I will read the low histamine info.
