KBear
i am on day 8 and a little confused about sugar i was under the mpression that ALL sugar was not acceptable whether it was in the nutritional label, or added below in the ingredients. But, someone just told me it is OK if there is Sugar in the nutritional label...it just cant be an added ingredients in the bottom section of the label. Can someone please clarify?? kirkor
Correct. If there is no form of added sugar in the ingredients list, the sugar grams listed on the nutritional label are from what occurs naturally in the food. You'll never have a "sugar free" tomato, for example.
KBear
Thank you so much. That opens my options a ton. What about the amount of grams of sugar in the nutritional label. Do we need to watch that? Say something has 10 grams of sugar.
GFChris
As Kirkor correctly stated, the ingredients list rules for the purposes of the Whole30. If every single ingredient in the list is Whole30 compliant, then the food is compliant. You can look at the nutritional label for your own interest, but if there are no sugars or sweeteners in the ingredients list, and you see any grams of sugar on the nutritional label, that would be naturally occurring sugar and be ok.
