ccaston
Hi friends! I am currently on Day 9 of my Whole30. Just some background: I am lucky if I poop 3x a week, and usually they are rabbit pellets that take all of the might of my body to evacuate. As a young child, I had a phase of constipation, but then it went away for many, many years. I eat WAY more healthy now than I do then, but I just can't seem to go ever. I also always bloat after my meals, no matter what it is. I was hoping the Whole30 would help. Here is an example of my meals Breakfast: Eggwhites cooked in olive oil, half avocado, snap peas sauteed in oilive oil. coffee (black) Lunch: salad of turkey, half avocado, spinach, carrots, and olive oil and vinegar and sometimes a sweet potato. If i am at work, its a salad with tuna or turkey, half avocado, tomato, carrot, portabello mushrooms, butternut squash, and oil and vinegar Dinner: spaghetti squash with ground turkey and tomato sauce, or a stir fry with broccoli, mushrooms, green beans, coconut aminos, and grilled chicken. Sometimes I have a few berries. I really feel digusting, bloated, and uncomfortable. My tongue is starting to turn a weird shade of white/yellow, probably because I've been stopped up for so long. Any suggestions??
Moderators Tom Denham Posted November 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 18, 2014 My tongue has a white/yellow brownish cast on top and I poop 3 times per day. I asked my dentist what was wrong with my tongue and he said it was normal. I bet your tongue is normal too. It often takes longer than 9 days for bloat or constipation to resolve, so don't give up yet. And since your problem is long-standing, you might only get "improvement" by day 30, but you should get serious improvement. You did not mention how much water you are drinking, but we recommend 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight per day. So if you weighed 120 pounds, you would need to drink 60 ounces of water per day. And I recommend that as how much you drink not counting tea, coffee, or other drinks. As a person with constipation problems, you need a lot of water every day. And fat. Fat can help you go. Another thing you might do is take Natural Calm - a magnesium supplement. One of its side effects for people new to taking it is often diarrhea. That would get you going. I can't tell how much you are eating, but the composition of your meals looks okay. I would like to see you eating whole eggs. The best nutrition of an egg is in the yolk, so it is a shame to eat only the whites. Also, you may need more veggies at breakfast and more fat at dinner. ccaston
Thanks Tom! I do drink ALOT of water (probably about 70-90 oz and I weigh 130) in addition to tea as well.
Tina R
When you do a cleanse your body releases all of the toxic stuff in your cells into your intestines. This can cause diarrhea or constipation. For those of us who are already constipated it makes it so much worse. You need to get this out of your body because as it stays in you are reabsorbing the toxic material. I personally would add some fiber supplements or chia seeds. Try Vitamin C that can sometimes get things moving in the right direction. And for more drastic measure try prune juice. Good Luck!
pjena
Hi - when I started W30 I took digestive enzymes and HCL enzymes to help process all the meat. The HCL in particular helped me go more regularily. It didn't make it perfect, but better. I've weaned off those after almost 2 yrs of eating this way but still take the magnesium supplement. It's still not perfect, but better. Stick with it. Good luck!
