Half an avocado, tomato, prosciutto, sweet potato, nuts, Half a peach D. BBQ chicken, roast sweet potato and carrots Peppermint tea Day 7 Sunday 10 February B. 1 boiled egg (ran out!), leftover sweet potatoes and carrots L. Red salmon, cherry tomatoes, snow pea sprouts, handful of nuts, 2 slices prosciutto D. Roast pork, crackling, sweet potato, carrots Peppermint tea, grapes (probably too many!) Yay me, rest of family had crepes with lemon and sugar and maple syrup for breaky and I didn't! I even had to put the stuff on my son's crepes and be careful not to lick the maple syrup off my fingers after rolling the crepe! And Wow, we cooked good healthy food all 3 nights of the weekend! Organic chicken breast, coconut oil, corn, asparagus, kale chips Camomile tea Day 9 Tuesday 12 February B roast pork, apple sauce, cherry tomatoes, half an avocado L. Quarter free range BBQ chicken (shop bought), cherry tomatoes, nuts D. 3 lamb loin chops, sweet potato and carrots roasted in coconut oil, cumin and garlic salt Day 10 Wednesday 13 February B & L. 2 fried eggs in capsicum ring, mushrooms, 1 lamb loin chop, 1/2 avocado Peppermint tea D Eye fillet steak, eggplant tapenade, salad (rocket, baby spinach, prosciutto, tomatoes, asparagus, avocado, balsamic vinegar) Camomile tea Whoops, time got away and I kinda missed breaky! Cafe - smoked salmon salad with no dressing and no cheese Olives for pre-dinner appetiser D. Prawns in garlic, salad (rocket, baby spinach, tomatoes, prosciutto, avocado, balsamic vinegar) Camomile tea Day 12 Friday 15 February B. 2 boiled eggs, prosciutto L. Road trip - 2 hard boiled eggs, prosciutto, olives D. BBQ chicken thighs, salad Today I drove my 82 year old mother to Canberra to say goodbye to her 84 year old sister who was virtually unconscious after a terrible 2 years being close to a vegetable and utterly dependent on her daughter. She had been a vibrant and fun loving aunt to me and the last 2 years have been tragic and sad to see. She has been living with my cousin. I feel great surviving the weekend with my Whole30 in tact. I drank lots of black coffee. When they had melting moments and chocolate brownies for afternoon tea I had watermelon and strawberries and I really savoured them. I told them I was doing a 30 day no sugar thing to slay my sugar dragon but didn't go into the rest of it - it just wasn't the time! I got around the dinner problem by offering to bring my favourite marinated chicken thighs from my organic shop (compliant) and just ate the salad with it. I did miss having wine but my cousin doesn't drink so I had company. Dessert was same as afternoon tea and I had another black coffee! Wouldn't normally at that time of night but I felt I needed strength from something. We stayed in a hotel to make it easier for my cousin and I resisted the minibar chocolates and chips which I felt like devouring. I did have a packet of nuts. Breakfast next morning in the hotel so again I could be compliant. Day 13 Saturday 16 February B. 2 hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, fruit L. Beef pie without the pastry (not sure of ingredients but I'm leaving it at that!), salad Peach, nuts and black coffee on 4 hour drive home D. It must be very difficult to see her like that, and to see your mum upset. I think you showed iron-will over the weekend, particularly when feeling emotionally vulnerable.
