Jamlal
I made a delicious chicken Waldorf salad and planned on making homemade mayo to add to it. I bought some mayo at whole foods I thought was compliant and made a small batch with it. I took one bite and them decided to double check the ingredients. Canola oil was an ingredient. I did not eat anymore and an on making homemade mayo tomorrow . Do I need to start over ?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted December 29, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 29, 2014 Although canola oil is a poor choice, it is acceptable during a Whole30. Not because it is good for you, but because no one could eat in a restaurant during a Whole30 if they could not eat food cooked with canola oil. I've never seen commercial mayo that was Whole30-compliant, but it has been a few years since I've studied mayo ingredients. Making your own is always the superior choice. Jamlal
Thanks! I feel relieved. I have friends who are going to give me eggs out of their coop and a lesson in mayo making, but they are out of town! I do look forward to trying....especially trying spicy with cayenne!!!! praxisproject
If you have an immersion blender, this one is really easy! http://thehealthyfoodie.com/fail-proof-home-made-paleo-mayo-whole30-compliant/ Make sure you use light olive oil, EVOO will make it bitter. Physibeth
I agree to making your own because it is super easy. That said Tessamae's came out with a W30 compliant mayo recently. I've not tried it but here is the link: http://www.tessemaes.com/products/mayonaisse
