Mollimel's Whole30 - started 9th January, 2015

This will be my fourth Whole30, but I have not kept a log previously, and I'm hoping that this will help keep me on my path this time. I'm also going to use i to monitor my mental health. 

I have Type 2 Diabetes which the Whole 30 and paleo eating have helped get my blood sugar levels down, and maintain it so far, my last A1C test was 6.1, and I've had a test come back confirming gluten intolerance. I've noticed that when I eat gluten, my mental health seems to be depressed as well as anxious, cranky and easily irritated. I've found that dairy makes my skin erupt and itchy. 

And so it begins!

Day 1 - 9th January, 2015


How did I sleep: My nights are getting later, probably doesn't help that I'm on annual leave and have no routine at the moment. The heat is always a bonus too, but going to sleep as it rained was lovely. Still need a nap during the day though!


How do I feel AM: Did not want to get out of bed, but did because I was hungry.


Exercise: Gardening


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 3 eggs cooked in ghee.


Lunch: Roast pumpkin and beetroot with rocket, and 195g can tuna with drizzle of coconut aminos.


How do I feel after lunch: Tired


Dinner:Well Fed Chocolate Chilli with sweet potato mash and half an avocado. I ended up having a mini meal of what I had at lunch about 5,30 as I was starving, guessing not enough fat at lunch time, will monitor this!


How do I feel before bed:Little bit tired and grumpy, looking forward to not being so tired all the time again!

Day 2 10th January 2015


How did I sleep: Like a log! So deep, and until 9am! Very unusual!


How do I feel AM: Pretty cruisy.


Exercise: House cleaning


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee. I upped this as I as hungry again fairly quickly yesterday. 


Lunch: Leftover chocolate chilli with sweet potato mash and avocado.


How do I feel after lunch: Satisfied and comfortable


Dinner: Osso bucco with potato and broccoli smash


How do I feel before bed: Tired, but feeling like I have more mental clarity.

Day 3 - 11th January 2015


How did I sleep: I have missed having these lovely deep sleeps!! Kind of surprised that it only took a day to get rid of the tiredness!


How do I feel AM:Great, happy, energized!


Exercise: 1 hour Body Balance class


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee.


Lunch: Roast pumpkin and beetroot with rocket, and 195g can tuna with drizzle of mayonnaise


How do I feel after lunch: Ready to get my groove on  :D


Dinner: Chicken Curry


How do I feel before bed: Tired, and grumpy with a headache, hope I wake up in a better mood tomorrow!

Day 4 - 12th January 2015 - First day back at work after holidays.


How did I sleep: Tossed and turned


How do I feel AM: Like hell


Exercise: None


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee.


Lunch: Roast pumpkin and broccoli salad with chicken pine nuts and mayo


How do I feel after lunch: Pretty good


Dinner: Steak with potato salad, coleslaw and grilled zucchini


How do I feel before bed: Very tired

Day 5 - 13th January 2015

How did I sleep: Not as bad last night, but still some tossing and turning

How do I feel AM:Tired, but more relaxed

Exercise: None

Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee.

Lunch: Roast pumpkin and broccoli salad with chicken pine nuts and mayo

How do I feel after lunch: Good, still tired though!

Dinner: Steak with potatoes and cabbage

How do I feel before bed: Very satisfied, but tired, surprise surprise lol

Day 6 - 14th January 2015


How did I sleep: Very heavy


How do I feel AM: Tired, but more relaxed


Exercise: None


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee.


Lunch: Fish with roasted broccoli and sweet potato and mayo


How do I feel after lunch: Good, still tired though!


Dinner: Roast pork with vegetables


How do I feel before bed: Very satisfied, but tired,

Day 7 - 15th January 2015


How did I sleep: Like a log


How do I feel AM:Tired, but more relaxed


Exercise: 1 hour yoga class


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms with baby spinach, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee.


Lunch: Roast pumpkin and broccoli salad with chicken pine nuts and mayo


How do I feel after lunch: Pretty good again!


Dinner: Salmon with potato and broccoli smash and sauteed cabbage.


How do I feel before bed: Satisfied, tired, happy

Day 8 - 16th January 2015


How did I sleep: Very heavily again


How do I feel AM: Like my energy is coming back!


Exercise: Does sleep count as exercise?


Breakfast: Stir-fried capsicum and mushrooms with rocket, and 4 eggs cooked in ghee and half an avocado


Lunch: Steak with vegetables


How do I feel after lunch: Finding it easier to concentrate on work


Dinner:Salmon with potato and broccoli


How do I feel before bed: Tired still!! Looking forward to leaving the tired phase behind!!

Day 9 - 17th January 2015


How did I sleep: Like a log again!


How do I feel AM: Pretty darn good, libido is coming back!


Exercise: Sleep lol


Breakfast: Sweet potato hash with eggs and avocado


Lunch: I actually missed lunch today as I went back to bed and slept for 4 hours!


How do I feel after lunch: 


Dinner: Butter Chicken with cauli puree


How do I feel before bed: Cracker of a headache, didn't have coffee today, will put it down to that!

How do I feel AM: Almost normal again


Exercise:


Breakfast: Stir fry capsicum, mushroom and asparagus with 4 eggs cooked in ghee, with avocado and mayo

I'm following your whole30 log! I too suffer from anxiety and depression. I went off meds this summer and was doing great but then got off track with my diet and my mood slowly changed. I'm back on the meds and finally back to whole30 and am finally getting some relief. It really does make a difference!
