Eating_paleo
I'm starting my Whole 30 on the 15th and am kinda concerned abt the sugar, carb, and alcohol withdrawal. Anyone have tips or ideas to make that part go quickly? The week-ends might be rough.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 12, 2015 Administrators Share Posted January 12, 2015 Hi and welcome! Depending on what a person's intake was like before Whole30 and keeping in mind that everyone is different, there are different levels of the "carb flu" and the associated symptoms. Some tips to get through it unscathed: Drink water - half an ounce per pound of body weight daily Eat a serving (at least) of starchy veggies every day...increase as needed Follow the template as closely as possible: http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf Read up on the timeline so you have an idea of what to expect: http://whole30.com/2013/08/revised-timeline/ Write down your reasons for doing the Whole30 so that you can refer back to it in moments of weakness or doubt Trust yourself and the process,.....the discomfort won't last forever! uma_capoeirista
I was surprised that this time I didn't experience nearly as many of the "detox" symptoms as I typically do. Things I did differently included: having extra food prepper and on hand in case I was feeling lousy when it came time to cook or wat, drinking lots of warm lemon water the first few days, nightly detox baths for the first week (Epsom salts and lavender oil), and taking it easy as much as possible those first few days. Be gentle with yourself and know that feeling better is just around the corner!
