Montanamom
I'm wondering how stress plays into a lack of results on a whole30. I am on day 21 of what I hope can be a whole100, and I'm discouraged at how much I still feel like I did 21 days ago--tired, not loving how my clothes fit, not sleeping soundly for 8 or 9 hours--when I have been so "good". I am eating what I'm supposed to, not snacking, etc., but I still don't feel all that great. I am, however, a 39-year-old homeschool mom to five kids, ages 3 to 13, and I'm stressed out most of the time just because of the demands on my time right now. If I keep on going, will I eventually get results? As I continue to reduce the stress from a not-so-healthy diet, will my body be better able to deal with the everyday stresses that aren't going away anytime soon? Moderators always ask for sample food logs, so here's an example: Meal 1: leftover steak, cabbage sauteed in ghee Meal 2: tomato soup with coconut milk, Aidells chicken apple sausage, carrot sticks Meal 3: huge salad with balsamic vinaigrette, leftover roast chicken, olives and half an apple with some almond butter
GFChris
Stress plays a HUGE role. Eating Whole30 style is a move in the right direction. However, if there are parts of your life causing you stress and you don't take steps to minimize the stressors or change how you respond, your body will still react in several negative ways. Here is an article you may find informative on chronic stressors' impact on the body and possible actions to take. http://whole9life.com/2011/11/stress-addiction-2/
Moderators LadyM Posted January 19, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 19, 2015 Something else to consider: eat more starchy veg with your meals, especially your last one before bed. That will likely help you sleep. I've been eating this way for nearly two years now. My body and my life were a wreck when I started. Now I'm great. For some of us it simply takes longer. I seriously needed to adjust my expectations of what could happen in a 30-day period. Don't get me wrong: it was an amazing start that got me on the right path. I've changed infinitely for the better. But the body isn't linear. Keep making good choices and you will see results. Let go of unreasonable expectations and your own timeline and you'll start seeing them.
