kimmyis
I was gifted some cabbage and want to make coleslaw. I found this recipe http://thehealthyfoodie.com/squeaky-clean-coleslaw/ and instead of using honey or sugar they use pureed pineapple. I know that fruit is allowed but just wanted to check because at day 18 of my whole30 using ANYTHING to sweeten anything feels off. Thoughts? jent103
Yep, it's technically fine, but good for you for wondering if you really need to sweeten! I might start with no or less pineapple, just to see how much you think it needs. A lot of recipes with added sweeteners (W30-compliant or not) don't really need them, or don't need as much, once you've been on a Whole30. SpinSpin
I have used applesauce to sweeten asian dressing instead of honey--I made an applebee's style dressing that called for honey and used the applesauce instead and it was WONDERFUL! It was pretty much mayonnaise, sesame oil, the applesauce, mustard and while the recipe called for soy, I used coconut aminos instead and it turned out fantastic!
