CrystalC
There is deli meat on the whole30 shopping list. How much and is there a special variety that meets the rules. I don't know if I can find organic in my city. I can probably find pastured and grass-fed.Crystal
Guest Andria
Deli meat falls under the protein category, of course, so the quantity is the same as for any other protein - 1-2 palms. Organic, pastured is a recommendation but not a requirement during the Whole30. You need to read the ingredient list for non compliant ingredients ( e.g.,carageenan, sugar, gluten, dairy). It is very difficult to find compliant deli meat.
missmary
on more caution on Deli meat, if you choose to include it: lots of times people think a serving is one or two thin sheets that fit into the outline of their palm. Instead, think about the volume of your palm including thickness. Pile that stuff UP if it's going to be your only source of protein at that meal. MeadowLily
Thanks, Miss Mary, for that image. When you think about piling up that much deli meat, it's not nearly as inviting as the something we fix at home. I'll remember that visual.
