lleibovich
I'm on Day 16 and I don't feel much of a change.... My clothes DO feel looser but I remain moody and grumpy. My cravings for sweets are better, but nowhere near gone. I still want to snack (albeit on healthy foods like hard boiled eggs and fruits) and my skin is a mess -- I've had three huge and painful acne cysts since beginning the program. My sleep is the same as always. My energy levels are the same - in fact, this weekend I had to take a nap each day because I was so exhausted. I am committed to sticking with the program but I am so frustrated to be working so hard and not seeing or feeling any of the magical changes that everyone talks about. One note: I have not been exercising. I knew that if I tried to do too much at once -- change my diet and begin an exercise plan -- I might get overwhelmed and stop one or the other. So I consciously have been putting my efforts toward the diet with the idea that I will return to exercise once I'm finished with the plan. I'm really confused and would love any thoughts or suggestions.
sexy@sixty
I am having trouble navigating this site, so slow to respond. I am 60 yrs young and starting day 19, (had a glass of wine on New Years Day). I do not feel one bit different. I thought I was sleeping better, but that only lasted one night. My clothes don't feel any different and I still wake with a sore hip if I have been laying on it and my hands are still painful with use. I am not giving up because I told my daughter I would do it with her, but feel very discouraged. I have not been on the scales but cant imagine there is much difference there either. shabs831
I'm in the same boat. Day 18 for me. My clothes feel a tad looser, but I don't feel that different weight wise. I haven't had a ton of energy, haven't been sleeping any different. Still have sugar cravings (although they are starting to dwindle). I haven't noticed a difference in my workouts, in fact, most days I don't even feel like working out at all. And still have headaches. I'll continue plugging along, in hopes that tiger blood hits me soon! But getting a little frustrated. I will have a day where I feel fantastic, then the next day feel almost as I did before I started. Glad I'm not alone
Guest Andria
Hi there, sorry to hear you are frustrated. Hang in there! There is a reason it is called The Whole 30 and not The Whole 16, or 10 or 20. http://whole30.com/2014/01/whole30-tough-love/ Not everyone follows the timeline, and depending on what your previous diet, health and stress looked like you may not follow the timeline predictably. For some people, it takes longer than 30 days to feel the magic. It might help to post a few days worth of meals, water intake, exercise and sleep so we can see if there are some tweaks you could make.
DFish
Im on day 16 too and have not yet had a whiff of magic either, not a whiff! I know it takes longer for some, and that it often gets worse before it gets better, but come on!!!! Surely something should be visibly shifting, however minute??? It is truly hard to not see any light at the end of the tunnel. I will keep on trudging forth though, and muster up some hope. I WILL stick to this, but right now I am feeling despondent and worried that I will be let down at the end of the 30 days. If there are others out there that feel the same, you are not alone!!!! Here's to trusting that the sun will come out...tomorrow.....or the next day.....or in 15 days time! :-) Hang in there fellow W30'ers!

Hi DFish, If it helps you at all,I have done Whole30's and every one is different. In this case I'm on Day 16 and I am still experiencing exhaustion and a bit of leftover crankiness. It's irritating (and in fact I pitched a small fit this morning to my husband that "I'M ON DAY 16 AND I STILL WANT TO SLEEP ALL DAY, THIS BLOWS!" ) but it's not a 16 day program. It's 30. And depending on where you have been before you arrived at Whole30, it could be longer. Right now your body is working hard behind the scenes to rebalance hormones and metabolism. Your mental self is probably working equally as hard in rebalancing emotions and habits surrounding food. You may not see any difference at the moment but rest assured, things are happening. What were the things you wanted to see results in? Depending on what you have your sights set on, you might be missing small but important changes: Are you sleeping better? Have you been able to eliminate snacking (that's a big one for a lot of people). Are you happily eating more veggies and trying new recipes? Is your hair shinier or falling less? Are your eyes brighter? Do your nails seem stronger? Here's an article that Whole9 wrote about giving up the scale but it's just as applicable in identifying change and success as it is in explaining why the scale doesn't tell the whole picture. http://whole9life.com/2012/08/new-health-scale/
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted January 21, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 21, 2015 If you post some more information about your meals, sleep, exercise and stress for the last three days or so, we might be able to make some suggestions that will help. MeadowLily
What other kinds of proteins do you enjoy besides eggs? How much fruit and/or nuts do you normally have. These two items can wreck havoc with your skin.
