Jtobar
I found a recipe for pudding it contains avocado, bananas, unsweetened Cocoa powder and vanilla extract there is no added sugar besides the natural sugar from the bananas. Can someone tell me if this is ok to have?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted January 24, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 24, 2015 Pudding seems to fall in the re-creating treats category in the rules (http://whole30.com/whole30-program-rules/) Also, it's nearly impossible to find a vanilla extract that doesn't contain alcohol. Why not just have the banana?
GFChris
Also see the official stance on cacao in the Can I Have guide: "Cacao (100%): Yes Cacao (or 100% cocoa) is great when used as a savory spice (our Mocha Steak Rub, found in It Starts With Food, is a great example), but you can also feel free to add it to your coffee or tea, or brew it Crio Bru-style. But per the rules of the program, it’s not okay to add cocoa to dates and other fruits to make chocolate-y confections. Read our Great Cocoa Debate for details. - See more at: http://whole30.com/2013/06/the-official-can-i-have-guide-to-the-whole30/#sthash.Y4ZNK3OM.dpuf" This statement also makes this pudding a no for a Whole30. Moderators Tom Denham Posted January 24, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 24, 2015 We want you to learn there is a broad range of incredible foods to eat during a Whole30. I assure you that your avocado, banana, cocoa powder, vanilla extract pudding is not in that range of incredible foods. Your body will thank you if you break out of the box and forget about replicating foods that are not your friends.
