Lady Cordelia
January 24: Day One I survived! I didn't slip up and feel very proud of myself. My meals today: B: 2 egg omelette with balsamic onions and red peppers L: chicken and roasted vegetable salad, strawberries D: porterhouse steak with toasted almond and chilli broccoli Plus an awe inspiring amount of water. I was tempted to snack, but out of habit not hunger. Day One = my bitch!
Tina R
Welcome! Congratulations on your first day. Did the 2 egg omelette satisfy you until lunch? The rule on eggs is to eat as many as you can hold in one hand so that is usually 3 - 4 for women. I find that I am satisfied longer if I eat meat for breakfast instead of eggs. If you notice that you really want to snack in the afternoon you may want to increase your breakfast protein. Great start to your whole30!
Lady Cordelia
Thanks so much! I hadn't heard that rule about eggs - good to know.
Lady Cordelia
January 25: Day 2 B: 2 poached eggs, spinach, tomatoes and a black coffee L: fresh berries with spiced coconut milk D: slow cooker shredded beef tacos Success! My breakfast today was out at a cafe with friends - not a great start to a new eating plan. I was surprised at the casual criticism my food choice kicked off and how difficult it was to deal with. I was actually quite hurt by their comments and how defensive it made me. Maybe it's because they've seen me do every kind of crazy diet without succeeding, but the more I think about it, the worse it makes me feel. I guess the only answer is to realise that those comments were more about them than me and not to let it derail me. Tomorrow will bring anouther challenge - an Australia Day BBQ. I'll need to keep myself away from all the snacks and drinks, but at least I should be able to have a decent paleo meal of meat and salad. Here's hoping tomorrow's group of friends are less quick to comment.
Lady Cordelia
January 26: Day 3 B: salsa scrambled eggs with avocado, bacon and a black coffee L: BBQ chicken and lamb with salad D: slow cooker shredded beef tacos and a side of broccoli Success! Actually not as tough a day as I had anticipated. Yes, I was at a friend's Australia Day BBQ with offers of wine, traditional potato salad, sausage rolls, dips, crackers, cheese, lamingtons, vanilla slice……. you get the picture. But I was happy to admire eveything and politely decline. I didn't even really feel tempted. I did think "wow, that looks really good" once or twice, but that was it. No willpower necessary. I wonder how long this resolve will last?

Lady Cordelia
January 27: Day 4 B: apple, bacon and butternut squash hash and a black coffee L: slow cooker shredded beef salad and a peach D: 2 chicken drumsticks with sweet potato mash and sauteed spinach Success! I had such a strong compulsion to remove the skin from the chicken drumsticks… I can't remember the last time I ate it!
