Lea B's First Whole 30

Loggin' in!  I missed the start of my journey, but I guess day 4 is as good a place to start as any.

I'm a 47-year-old mom in a family of five, including 3 teenagers. I'm a teacher (6th grade), and on my paycheck I have to BUDGET like crazy. That means I was already cooking a ton of whole foods as we normally can't afford a lot of the processed stuff  (and I'm trying to keep chemicals off of my table as much as possible), and my husband doesn't like pasta or rice, so I normally don't cook either.

What I AM missing is 1) sugar in its many forms 2) snacking 3) bread/crackers/tortillas 4) did I mention snacking?

Also I started yoga class and zumba classes with a friend this month, so right now I'm pretty sure my body is in complete shock from the inside out!

Anyway, day 4 and so far, so good.

I just started my own journey today. It's encouraging to know other people are doing it at the same time :) .... and yes, I am going to miss sugar in all of its forms too... but I'm excited to retrain my tastebuds to enjoy more subtle flavors

I have to agree that I'm kind of excited about that too. I swear my salad tasted ridiculously good last night with just oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper.

Day six was a bit of a challenge for me. I went my students' basketball game last night and sat there for three hours sipping water and munching on ice while everyone around me ate nachos and hotdogs and popcorn and candy. My own son sat next to me and slowly ate Skittles. By the time I got home my sugar demon was on a rampage, and then my husband started snacking on CAKE! I am happy to say that I did not give in. I kept thinking to myself, " This. is. not. hard. It's only food," AND I went to bed early so I wouldn't have to think about it anymore. Whew! Wonder what day seven holds for me...

Day 10 or 11 here...hanging with it. Made more mayo, ghee and today I tackled breakfast sausage. Put it in patties and threw them in the freezer. Can't wait to try them later in the week. I made some lemon chicken/veggie soup today using some stock I got from cooking the chicken. I really think my taste buds are starting to change because the soup seemed so flavorful!

Pants are getting a little less tight! After Christmas I had a couple pairs that I could barely button, so I'm pretty happy about that.
