Tackling My First Whole30

It's January 26th and my first day of Whole30. The day went well but I had a "oh yeah" moment. I'll get to that in a bit but first a run down of the day.

7:45 - Pre-workout

Grass Run Farms Beef Jerky Stick

*** Just a note on this: I'm still working out the pre-workout meals and if I'm going to hit the gym at 8 AM, I have to hurry.

That being said it worked pretty well. But this is also an expensive option. Turns out, the kind of beef jerky that I can

eat isn't easy to come by so I'll be looking for a good dehydrator.

8:00 - Gym: Strength Training

          Front Squats 5x70%, 5x80%, 5x90%

          Hanging Cleans 2xMaxReps@75%

          Push Press 5x70%, 5x80%, 5x90%

9:15 - Post Workout/Breakfast

Stuffed sweet potato with 5oz ground chuck, zucchini, & spinach (pictured)

*** I know, I know. I should have a separate post workout meal from breakfast but time wasn't really permitting that.

1:00 - Another Beef Jerky

*** The kids wanted to go for a bike ride and I needed to walk the dog. Lunch was going to be awhile

1:45 - Lunch

Beef Soup (leftovers) - Beef, cauliflower, rutabaga, carrots, cabbage, onion, & celery. (no picture, it's soup)

*** We eat pretty clean most of the time and this was from Saturday. I usually throw some sauerkraut in it but didn't today.

6:00 - Pre-workout (Yes, that's #2)

Broiled Salmon with cherry tomato salsa and sautéed asparagus. (also, not pictured. Was running late)

*** This was actually everyone's dinner but used it as a pre-workout

6:30 - Strength Conditioning Class (1hr)

7:30 - Muay Thai Class (1hr)

9:00 - Post Workout/Dinner (Oops, I did it again)

Chicken breast with broccoli, onions, & orange pepper over salad greens. Also though in some leftover cherry tomato salsa.           (pictured as dinner)

And there you have it, day 1.

Now for that "oh yeah" moment. So this afternoon I had to run to the bank while my wife was in a doctor's appointment. On the way I knew I'd have some extra time so I thought, "I'll get a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie." But, then I thought, "wait, I can't do that. Think of the sugar!" Really what occurred to me is all the times I kill time by eating. I wasn't hungry so why did I want to eat? More so, why did I want to spend money eating when I wasn't hungry? I guess a little food for thought.

Talk to you tomorrow!
