Day 16 - terrible stomach problems

Recommended Posts

Not sure if I have a case of food poisoning or a bug or what but after dinner last night I started to feel really bloated and uncomfortable so went to bed early. Woke up 2am with terrible watery diahrrea and it continued all night. Tried to eat an Rx bar (whole30 compliant blueberry) and have some ginger tea around 9am and was immediately in the bathroom again 2x more. Is it possible that it's from something I ate even though was all home cooked and fresh ingredients? Not vomiting, just very bad diahrrea. My meals yesterday

Breakfast - 3 deviled eggs, 2 slices of prosciutto, handful or raspberries and black coffee

Lunch - leftover homemade crab cakes (used almond flour instead of cracker crumbs and subbed coconut aminos for worstishire. Side of roasted broccoli with onions and compliant bacon bits, iced green tea with lemon

Dinner - homemade paleo pork meatballs with tomato sauce (all ingredients compliant and purchased the ground pork at whole foods the day prior) and roasted asparagus wrapped w proscuitto

Drank 2.5 liters of water throughout the day.

Another question, since white carbs is about all I can stomach thinking about right now, is it ok to have rice since it doesn't have gluten? Or will that mean I have to start my whole 30 over again? Any advice would be helpful thank you. This is my first whole30 and I am doing it to address digestive issues so really hoping this isn't just my body not agreeing with the food, but digestion has been pretty good the first 15 days. Trying not to give in to urge to eat crackers and drink ginger ale

Sorry you're feeling poorly.

Rice is not compliant on a Whole30, as no grains are permitted.  Eating so would reset the start button.

You might have a stomach bug.

As far as food tweaks, overall, things look ok.  Don't let fruit push vegetables off your plate: get in 1-3 cups per meal. Make sure you're getting enough fat per the template at each meal.

Bone broth might help soothe your stomach at this point. Keep hydrated.

Hope you feel better soon.

Take an over-the-counter med for the diarrhea. Really, it is okay and can shut things down that might otherwise linger for days. :)

You might want to make sure you are eating starchy veggies. Baked sweet potato or regular potatoes can help provide some useful bulk to your food intake.

I don't do well with tomato sauce. It sets me off for days. Not worth it.

Surprised to see Tom with the immodium recommendation. Whether it is a virus, bacteria, or a reaction to food... Your body is trying to tell you something. Taking that stuff is just like saying "shut up" without actually knowing the cause. In the case of an actual illness, you are stopping your body's natural defense against that invader.
