healthymichy
I need to start whole 30. I have high Candida levels and test as high delayed sensitivity to Candida. What foods should I avoid on whole 30? Scared of the cravings and how to avoid. Tips?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted January 28, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 28, 2015 Because the Whole30 is a naturally low-sugar approach to eating, it supports people who are dealing with Candida issues. However, we do not offer a Candida-protocol Whole30. I am skeptical that various lists of foods to eat or avoid to help with Candida improve upon doing a basic Whole30. If you want recommendations on foods to avoid, you should be getting that from a qualified health care practitioner. If you don't have a qualified health care practitioner guiding you, you should not take a poll on the internet or on this forum about how to customize your diet. Just do a basic Whole30. lelani
Hi there, with Candida it is very important to minimize ( I cut out) most fruit, citrus, bananas etc) Eat Berries if you must eat fruit. Mushrooms, yeasts, vinigars etc.keep Candida on the rise in your body. Whole30 is wonderful, however I minimize starchy vegetables ie potatoes, carrots anything with high sugar content. I have had good success with Candida following whole30 with these few restrictions. Anyone not suffering from Candida would not realize that a simple banana or date could flair you up, so do your research and Happy whole30. cottagequeen
healthymichy, My first whole30, I had a pretty serious candida issues. I spent 60 days of whole30 and it cleared. Didn't make a big deal about the foods I ate, in fact I ate quite a bit of sweet potatoes, but not much fruit, some days none at all. Now, maybe, it would have cleared faster if I had looked at the food I ate, maybe not. Also, I eat some fermented foods everyday. Just my experience. Keep calm and whole30 on! lelani
Like you I eat fermented foods daily. Oh I love sweet potoatoes and have them at least once a week. Like I said I just minimize these foods I do not cut them out. Depression will hit if I go to low....Ha our bodies; they are so picky some times, well all the time. Each one is picky about something it seems. You are so right cottagequeen. "Keep calm and whole30 on"
eyesinjune
I don't think it's starchy carbs or complex fruit sugars we need to be weary of. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10357735I think it's antibiotics and birth control pills that really get us. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8203861 And those two things COMBINED with a standard American diet (ie: low-fat, high refined-sugar)
