Valerie_410
We are 7 days in and I've had a scary dream/nightmare each night since we started. Rarely had dreams before. They wake me up and it's difficult to get back to sleep. Has anyone else experienced this?
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 28, 2015 Administrators Share Posted January 28, 2015 Hey Valerie, I'm so sorry you're having nightmares! Disrupted sleep happens at the beginning of Whole30 for some as your body adjusts. The easiest way to search our forum for answers is to use Google. Type in "Whole30 and your question" and you'll get lots of results. I found this thread that talked about rebalancing hormones (such as seratonin) as being a direct cause, http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/13541-nightmares-anyone-not-silly-food-dreams/
Beets
Oh dear, yes. I have crazy dreams in the beginning. I think some of it is your body just not being used to getting a lot of deep, good quality sleep. (At least that was true for me.) Insofar as getting back to sleep, do you use a sleep mask? I'm a light sleeper and often have issue falling back asleep if I wake up and the mask helps a lot. Also Natural Calm (or magnesium) before bed. If Natural Calm you need to find the kind without sweetener, which I've only ever found online.
barbara1978
I totally understand...I am on day 23 of my first Whole 30 and I get scary dreams still and they all seem to involve something bad happening to my kids---one I dreamt that my 2 year old fell down two stories onto a busy road below and I could not find stairs to get down to her (that kind of dreams). Very unsettling to say the least...I am not sure why it happens but I can commiserate with you.
sla5150
I'm on day 9 and I've had really bad, aggressive dreams for the last couple of day. I too am waking and having a hard time falling back to sleep after these dreams. I hope it's a phase and runs its course soon.
