Weiga100
will I lose more weight if I eat egg whites instead of eggs, and only lean beef and chicken breast instead of beef that has 15% fat and chicken thighs? Is it bad to cut out the fat?? will it make me eat more because I am eating less fat? Link to comment
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 29, 2015 Administrators Share Posted January 29, 2015 Weiga, fat is critical to human health and the reason that we have fat consumption recommendations are to ensure that people are nourishing themselves in that way. Your brain is composed of over 60% fat. You need it. If you remove it from your proteins you have to add it back somewhere else. If you ditch the egg yolk you are ditching about half the protein and virtually all of the vitamins and minerals. Eat the yolk. Fat is also a key trigger sending a message to your body that you have been well fed and nourished and that you can stop eating. We recommend that you focus less on your weight and more on how you are nourishing and respecting your body. Eating whole foods in quantities appropriate for your life, health and activity levels will eventually allow your weight to regulate. Please take a look at some of our resources surrounding the Whole30 as a complete health program and not a weight loss scheme. http://whole30.com/new/ http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf http://whole9life.com/2012/08/new-health-scale/ Link to comment
Nina429
Hi! I am at day 18, I have had many nonscale victories. No brain fog, improvement of rosacea on face, no bloat or feeling nauseous in the morning, and no spikes in hunger/ blood sugar imbalances (I used to feel like I was on a rollacoaster). All that being said... I was hoping for some weight loss as well, I have about 50 lbs to lose in order to been in a healthy BMI.. and I really haven't noticed any drastic change. Is it too early to tell? Based on all the other non scale victories I am sure i will be adopting this lifestyle permanently, but again would really love to drop the weight too. I've done lots of crazy diets, but i like this because it feels natural and a change in lifestyle.. Any insight would be great! Link to comment

Is it too early to tell? Yup. Focus on and celebrate the multiple non-scale victories you're having now, and remember that this is a 30 day program. http://whole30.com/2014/01/whole30-tough-love/ Link to comment

Healthy fat is critical to satiation, cell repair (including the brain), and energy. Good sources are eggs with the yolk, avocado, coconut, olive oil, nuts in moderation (and if you tolerate them), and the fat in properly raised animal meet. You don't want to eat the fat from factory farmed meat because the food and toxins are "fat soluble" and end up in the fat of the animal. But, if the animal was raised properly without toxic foods, antibiotics, and hormones then it is a source of healthy fat, omegas and nutrients from the grass/food they ate. A great resource for more information is "Eat the Yolks" by Liz Wolfe Hi! I am at day 18, I have had many nonscale victories. I've done lots of crazy diets, but i like this because it feels natural and a change in lifestyle.. Any insight would be great! I hear ya! I'm hoping to have lost some weight as well. BMI is not accurate. Muscle weighs more than fat. You can have two people of the same gender, height, weight and so same BMI, but look totally different. Even the number on the scale fluctuates based on time of the month, water retention, inflammation, time of day, and so on. Among many other psychological reasons, this is partly why there is the emphasis on ditching the scale for the 30 days - the number on the scale isn't usually a fair representation of our health or even body composition. The more accurate measurements are inches and body fat percentage. I would weigh myself daily before doing this Whole30 and so it was an adjustment to think of not using it any more. I finally had to put the scale in another room that I don't use so I won't be tempted to step on it. I am hoping that psychologically it'll be better for me to not focus on the number and to focus on other victories. Diet-wise, lots of people go for a Whole45 or Whole100 even. I know some people stick to these guidlines beyond the thirty days. Also, Paleo isn't far off - it does include natural sugars like maple syrup or honey and the odd glass of wine or something, but it's really not that far off from Whole30 (at least, the way I was doing Paleo). Just try not to fall into the habit of making tons of "paleo" desserts and baked goods hehe . So far for me, pants are fitting better. I can see in the mirror that my bloating is gone, which makes me look thinner already. I am not feeling foggy, my acne is starting to clear up, I don't have mood fluctuations and my energy is more consistent. I think I'm starting to sleep better. I've started turning off all screens, even my cell phone, by 10pm and reading a novel before bed. I am focusing on reducing stress in my life and getting outside more (even though it's winter time ). I haven't had headaches/migraines in the last 4-5 days, and when I'm active I feel like I have more energy/endurance. Link to comment
