First Whole 30!

Hello all!

 

My name is Nohemi pronounced No-eh-me. This is my first Whole30, and I am super excited. I am on day two and I feel hungry. I am big on snacks. Once I finish any meal, I always want chips, candy, or ice cream, so this is kind of hard but I cannot wait until my body adjusts to only eating three meals a day. I have to figure out how much protein I really need to keep me full for a couple of hours. I am also not big on cooking because it has never interested me, but now that I have started I have gained a bigger interest in cooking and seeing what is inside my foods that I eat. Any who, wish me luck and much luck to you all!

 

If you have any advice, I would be happy to listen!

Hi, Nohemi.

 

If you're hungry -- truly hungry, like you could eat something bland like steamed fish and broccoli -- eat. Eat a mini-meal of protein, fat, and veggies. If you're just bored, or just in the habit of eating, then it might be helpful to find something else to do to keep your hands and your mind occupied so you don't give in to temptation. Some people find that having a cup of hot tea can help, or you could go for a walk or read a book or write a letter or knit or crochet or paint or organize your closet or whatever will keep you from thinking about food for a while, until the feeling passes.

 

If you follow the meal template, and have a palm-sized piece of protein (that's length, width, and depth, the size of your palm), that's a good place to start, but you can go up to two palm-sized pieces if you find you need to. Don't forget to add healthy fats to your meal -- they play a big role in keeping you satiated for several hours. And of course always have vegetables -- 1-3 cups per meal.

The template IS the w30. It is your guiding light and salvation. :)

In the beginning of you are hungry see above. Ditto on the mini template meal instead of nuts or fruit. Don't fear fat! Don't think old thoughts about calories. This will get you where you want to be. You can do this.
