felbeth9
I don't know if this has been talked about before, or if I'm just that weird. I promise I did look through a bunch of forums to see if I could find something similar. Anyway, I just started this week, and I cannot seem to get warm. I work from home and have on wool socks, on multiple layers, a blanket over my lap, and I'm still cold. Is this part of the detoxing? I've never been a particularly warm bodied person, but this is way worse than normal. I keep drinking a lot of hot tea, but then getting up to use the bathroom means I have to take the blanket off. My life is hard.
_mandacell
I don't have an answer. My husband and I have noticed we are colder than normal when it is 70 degrees in the house with the head on. It is strange.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted February 6, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 6, 2015 Can you list out what you've been eating so we can take a look? Feeling cold isn't necessarily common but you are putting your body through a change, the extent of which is dependant on how you were eating pre-Whole30. Let us take a look and see what we can see. felbeth9
Sorry for delay. I'm new to the forum and for some reason thought I would get a notification when someone responded. Sorry! Anyway, a funny thing happened Sunday morning (aka Day 5). I woke up sweating. Like I just broke a fever, woke up sweating. I promise I didn't have a fever, though. My only explanation is that this was part of the hangover stage, and my body finally recalibrated its furnace. I've been eating either 3 eggs with spinach for breakfast or a pork hash with sweet potatoes and zucchini. Lunch is usually left overs from the night before, so a chicken breast/veggies, pulled pork/veggies, or a Persian chicken and green bean stew. Dinner is something new but along the same lines. I also made Melissa Joulwan's meat and spinach muffins to snack on if I feel hungry through the day. I feel like I'm getting enough protein/fat, but now I think my body just adjusts in weird ways. So my temperature issue seems to have fixed itself. Now I just need my digestive system to follow suit. Thanks for the support!!
GlennR
Something similar has happened to me. Nowadays (months into mostly Whole30 eating), I am much more cold-proof than I used to be. Pre-Whole30, even the mild Northern California winters used to make me really cold. (I was born and lived most of my life in a tropical climate before moving to the Bay Area.) Nowadays, I barely need to use my heavier coats and the cold doesn't bother me as much anymore. I attribute it to having converted to fat-burning, which, metaphorically, makes my furnace burn hotter. Or so I surmise.
tplummer
So here is my take on this. For me personally, I stopped drinking alcohol and soda and my blood pressure stabilized. No more spikes. Then I was cold for about 2 weeks. Now, this is odd for me because I have always been really hot blooded. I think the detox and the regulation of my systems is where the answer lies. I'm in my last 5 days of my whole30 and I only get cold when its cold. I also noticed before the Whole30 I couldn't sleep if my room was over about 75 degrees, now, 80 doesn't bother me a bit. I live in Arizona if your wondering why my room would be that hot in the winter.
