FrazzledEnds
Today is my Day 17 and I am in some SERIOUS need of help. I'm cranky. I mean like a grizzly bear who is not hibernating and someone stole my honey cranky. Sure, my complexion is a little better but my energy levels are still waaay too low. I certainly don't have the feelings of "happiness" as described. Before you ask - No. I have not cheated. Not one little bit (and this makes me cranky too!). The only thing that I'm not able to be 100% compliant on is sleep. I get between 6 to 7 hours of sleep a night. Not awesome but not terrible. As for caffeine - I don't drink coffee but my teas seem to be less abundant in the caffeine department. So what gives? Any other people out there with this problem? Any advice is greatly appreciated! -FrazzledEnds
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted February 18, 2015 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2015 Often, low energy and low mood are a sign that you're not getting enough starchy vegetables. Also keep in mind that it's still winter, a time when most of us get less sunshine (and therefore vitamin d) than usual, which can also contribute to lower mood and being tired. These are just guesses. If you'd like to list a couple of days' worth of food, including approximate portion sizes as they relate to the meal template, we could look and see if there's any obvious tweaks that might help. MeadowLily
You are speaking true words. Grizzly Bears are coming out of hibernation much earlier than they normally do for this time of year. They're really hungry and looking for any food sources. People are to steer clear and not go near them. Are you hungry? Being hungry can make you toss and turn at night. 6-7 hours of sleep is a tad short for good rest. If you're hungry, eat until you're no longer cranky. Day 21 is just a few days away....you may feel better then.
Moderators LadyM Posted February 18, 2015 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2015 First of all, remember you're a little more than halfway there. A lot of good is likely to happen in the next 13 days, especially with a little troubleshooting, including prioritizing sleep--don't underestimate the impact of that. Six to seven hours=sleep deprivation plain and simple. I'd be cranky, too. Second, read this.

I'm on Day 17 as well and felt I didn't have Tiger Blood either. My energy is slowly getting better but definitely not overnight like I assumed before. You're not alone FrazzledEnds! Christyareed
I'm on day 21 and also no magic. I really want a bowl of cereal. I get as much sleep as a mom of a 2 and 4 year old can, usually 8 hours or so, I drink plenty of water. Since I started I've felt exactly the same as I always have. We do live in Maine, and it's February, and we have 4 feet of snow standing on the ground currently, but I thought I'd at least have some energy by now! I suppliment vitamin D. My husband also has not noticed any changes, he's doing it with me.

If you list a couple of days' worth of food, including approximate portion sizes, we may be able to suggest things that might help.

Charona
Hi Frazzled Ends! Have you noticed any improvements over the last couple of days? I'm in the same place in my whole30 that you are and was feeling pretty close to exactly the same way last week actually. Curious if you're feeling any better. wholeCJ
Check your blood pressure. That is the one GREAT positive that I've experienced so far. Much lower than pre-Whole 30, so although I am missing the "magic" I'm loving the health benefits of significantly lower blood pressure. It is what is keeping me keeping on!
