mrsroxann
I had my labs done a few weeks before doing the Whole 30, I am just finishing the program and had my labs done for health assesment and all my cholesterol levels went up . I follow the program to the letter. What happened?
missmary
It's really hard to know without some more information. What were your levels before? What are they now? Sometimes people are of the false impression that it is not possible for cholesterol to be too low, but in fact, some cholesterol is healthy and your current levels may be healthy. This is especially true if you are looking at the total number, not differentiating between HDL and LDL values. The other thing to consider is whether you lost weight during your whole30. For many people their cholesterol levels go up slightly during/right after weight loss (that fat is getting metabolized) but they return to normal after a while when weight is stable. Brewer5
Right. I think it is going to be awhile before everyone realizes that much of what we have been fed about cholesterol is just plain wrong. An interesting link that kirkor posted recently -- may be of interest to you: http://www.biznews.com/health/2015/02/16/science-says-tim-noakes-is-right-on-cholesterol-lchf-and-a-whole-lot-else/
