Emily
This isn't exactly a medical condition or Whole30 related, so please move or delete if needed! I've done several Whole30s with awesome results and am currently riding my own bike. I've generally been feeling tired and just not excited about the active things I usually want to do--rock climbing, mountain climbing, biking, etc. I'm more into calmer, quieter activities like yoga or lake paddling. But I miss the action and excitement... I feel really weird. Because of job, my sleep is often interrupted 2-3x per week. it has been suggested to me that my regularly irregular sleep could have to do with my energy levels... any thoughts or suggestions? If I don't get to sleep at night I usually sleep the next day (I can sleep during the day) and I can still sleep that night. thanks!
Karen
I only mention this because we had a speaker come into work and discuss lighting specifically to help with energy, moods, focus, and sleep patterns. Obviously, getting on a regular sleep schedule would be best, but have you considered some of the various light lamps out there to help your body adjust? Phillips in particular has a few light therapy models (http://www.usa.philips.com/c/light-therapy/11625/cat/en/). I think there's one specifically that mimics both sunrise and sunset. I've been considering the Blue lite myself. Our eyes have receptors in them that send signals to our brains and affect our sleep/wake cycle, and Phillips has done a lot of studies on how different light levels affect people. There are supposedly ways to significantly reduce the effects of jet lag, shift work, etc. by giving your body the appropriate light levels and colors to signify either wake or sleep. I'm sure others will chime in with some brilliant ideas, but that's my 2 cents!
Renee Lee
There isn't really a good answer here, Emily. The sleep could definitely be the issue here, but there's not guidance i can give you besides "do the best you can" get your bedroom to be a CAVE. eliminate all noises, glowing lights from phones/electronics/etc. Sleep when you can for as long as you can. It's never going to be ideal, but you just have to do the best you can. good luck!
