fotozone
I just had lunch and I struck me that the sliced peaches in fruit juice I had were a little sweet. It could my palette is adjusting or maybe the fruit juice is hiding a bunch of sugar. Are peaches in fruit juice compliant? Thank Tom
Administrators ladyshanny Posted February 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2015 It could be that there is some added sweetener in the fruit, what does the ingredients list say?
fotozone
Just peaches and fruit juice. The fruit juice is not peach juice it is grape juice from concentrate. Thanks for responding. Tom
Administrators ladyshanny Posted February 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2015 Hi Tom. That would be compliant on Whole30....however it is not an ideal choice. Grape juice from concentrate added to a can of peaches is for no other reason than to boost their sweetness level. I would suggest you grab a piece of fresh fruit as opposed to the canned, more processed & sweetened variety.
fotozone
I have several cans, I like peaches. Do you think taking them and emptying the juice and replacing it with plain water will help. I can keep them in the refrig and use them fairly quickly. I thought they tasted sweet to me. Never remember them being that sweet before! May be the first indication that the Whole30 is having an affect. Tom
Administrators ladyshanny Posted February 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2015 It's up to you, technically it's a compliant item. I probably wouldn't drink the juice that comes in the can when I was done eating the peaches.

Munkers
Personally, I drain off the juice and rinse the fruit before consuming. That's a habit that I have with most canned foods that are packed in water or juice. (Oil-packed sardines get a pass on the rinse.) When I eat fruit, I tend to consume it fresh, but sometimes I need the convenience of a canned product.
SpinSpin
What about frozen peaches, where it is just frozen peaches? you could take a portion out the night before (if consuming with breakfast) and let it defrost over night in the fridge? Then you don't have to worry about the juice being compliant -- just a thought!
