Day 10, mostly just whining...

I'm not having any legitimate troubles, but I'm on day 10 and feeling incredibly whiny.  My husband is struggling mightily with his sugar addiction and has pretty much decided that now is not the time for him to break it, so he's throwing in the towel.  It's no wonder he feels crummy, he really hasn't been following the spirit of the program anyway.  But he's pretty much done.

I'm seeing enough positives that I'm not done.  And I know that day 10 is historically one of the hardest.  But I am not interested in anything that I can eat right now and I'm tired of all the dishes and cooking I'm having to do.  I don't really want sugar but man, would I like a sandwich and a cocktail.

I'm disappointed, bored, and whiny.  I suppose encouragement, or commiseration.

I appreciate all of you.

I can offer commiserations - I'm feeling crummy and bored today too and it's only day 7...

If you're already seeing benefits now you will be amazed when you get to the end.

Take the easy way when you can with cooking. It doesn't have to all have to be elaborate meals and recipes, it's fine to just throw something together.

You can do it!

Stay strong Emilyk and Ytu! You can do it. I had a rough couple of days yesterday and the day before (day 18, 19) and it was mostly from unusual hunger spikes. Still trying to figure it out. I didn't go off-plan but man oh man, it felt really hard. Plus it's close enough to Easter that there's chocolate in all the stores and those Lindt bunnies sure do look like they have super tasty little ears.

Sorry, it's so disappointing when your Whole30 partner throws in the towel.

Find a really nice Whole30 recipe that makes you feel like it's a special meal. Make it your treat for carrying on.

The Salmon and Hazelnut recipe in It Starts with Food is nice.

Or, just grill a steak/lamb chops/kabobs and serve with a favorite veggie - very little cooking required.

When people complain of the cooking and cleaning I often wonder what the heck did they eat before?  Didn't you cook and wash dishes prior to a Whole 30? Or was it all Take out food?     Its not any different, just the ingredients are different…

Hah, well, I did cook but usually only dinner.  Breakfast was usually nothing and lunch was either takeout or leftovers from dinner.  So I've gone from cooking probably 6 meals a week to probably closer to 20.  I used to be able to get away with dishes twice a week and now i'm up to at least once a day--more on the weekends when I've been batch cooking.  And dishes are what I hate the most.  ;)

Day 10 was the woooorst for me.  I was totally ready to quit.  I was on my period and it was the weekend to boot!  I struggled through it and I am now on day 20 and so glad I stuck it out.  You can too!  It's ok to whine.  I understand.  Just be sure to maybe give yourself a time limit on it.  Like let yourself sulk and pout for 15 minutes and then tell yourself YOU CAN DO IT!  It's ONLY 20 more days!  You're 1/3 of the way done!  You've totally got this.

Yeah, not the weekend but my period is here with a vengeance.  It's not helping my carb rage, either, I'm sure.  ;)

I know I'll get through this.  But I was hoping that since the first few typically "hard" days weren't really for me that I might just sort of gloss through this Day 10 thing.  Not so much.

Hang in there! Today would've been day 10 for me too, but I blew it yesterday
so back to Day 1. You don't want to do that!

I know how you feel, though. Cooking and dishes, cooking and dishes. Even though I spent a lot of time in the kitchen before, it seems like more now. Probably because I'm eating more vegetables.

Whine all you want, but STEP AWAY FROM THE SANDWICH! haha

I didn't.  LOL  Or, not very much.  A cheese quesadilla only messes up a single pan and even then, you can use it multiple times. ;)  Or grabbing an apple and calling that dinner...no mess there!  I didn't do takeout...just very sporadic meals.

What do you batch cook on the weekends? Maybe look into making some breakfast casseroles or muffins so you only have to heat up meal 1 most of the week and make enough at meal 3 so you have leftovers for meal 2. To minimize dishes go for more one dish meals. I hate doing dishes so I try to use as few as possible.

On the carb cravings during period - this is normal - make sure you eat enough starchy vegetables during your period - your body needs them.

Hang in there! Ride this out and you will be celebrating your success in no time!
