Genny
Hi all, I am trying to find something fun to do with all these bananas I have that are about to go bad, and I keep running into people posting whole30 recipes that look like desserts to me. This one looks great. But is it compliant??? http://simplymrsedwards.com/2013/05/20/whole30-banana-muffins/

AmyS
Hi all, I am trying to find something fun to do with all these bananas I have that are about to go bad, and I keep running into people posting whole30 recipes that look like desserts to me. This one looks great. But is it compliant??? http://simplymrsedwards.com/2013/05/20/whole30-banana-muffins/ These are absolutely, positively, 100% NOT Whole30. They violate the basic principles of Whole30, for one thing - we do not want you to replicate unhealthy foods in ways that are still unhealthy though they use ingredients that are technically Whole30 compliant. There is absolutely NO Paleofying baked goods on Whole30. I'm so shocked that this woman is promoting this as being Whole30 compliant on her blog. It's her space, so I won't speak to the issue there, but here on the Whole30 forums I will. Beyond this, we want you to eat food. We recommend that you eat Meal 1 within an hour of waking. Meal 1 should consist of 1-2 palms of protein (if eggs are your entire protein source, you eat as many as you can hold in your hand, for most people that's 3 or 4); 1-2 thumb-size portions of fat (nuts are fat on Whole30; and cooking fat mostly does not count in your fat source allotment because it mostly stays in the pan); and 2-4 cups of vegetables. There is absolutely nothing about these muffins that meets any Whole30 requirements, and absolutely everything that violates them. I'm just so shocked that someone would knowingly promote them as Whole30. Eat up, eat lots, eat well, eat real food. That's Whole30.
