Will start tomorrow, so my Whole30 will end right before my son's 2nd birthday which falls on Easter this year. I've been following a modified Paleo diet since the beginning of the year, so you wouldn't think this would be that difficult for me...I've already cut out all grains, legumes, most dairy, etc., but I'm not sure how the next 30 days are going to go. I'm extrememly worried because I am such a picky eater that I'm pretty sure I am just going to eat the same 5 things day in and day out. Let me also explain that I am not the type of picky eater that won't try new things...I totally will - it is just that with most food there is no way I can get past that first bite and force myself to take a second. I am mystified by the foods or rather, combinations of foods, that other people will put in their mouths. It sounds bad when I put it that way, but I spent most of my life trying to learn to like new foods - one of my big goals was to find one menu item I could eat at any type of restaurant. I finally met that goal, but because of Graves' disease my body went haywire and gained more than 60 lbs in 6 months, so now I have to buckle down and find my way back to a healthy weight and my previous eating habits aren't going to get me there. That being said, I really don't know what I am going to eat for the next 30 days...

What do you eat now? If you've already cut out all grains, legumes and most dairy, you must be filling your plate with something?

Do you have flavour issues or texture issues with the foods you eat?  What is it that causes you to not be able to try the second bite?

It is both - flavour and texture issues. I assume that things don't taste the same to me as they do to other people - I am good with foods that are bland in general like bread or potatoes, I avoid sauces and dressings at all costs, and I tend not to mix foods as in hamburger good bun good cheese good, but never, ever together. I don't think someone could even pay me a million dollars to eat a sandwich.

Right now I'm good with most meat/seafood depending on how it is cooked, hard boiled eggs, raw carrots, roasted cauliflower, raspberries, green apples, nuts, nut/seed butters, nut "milks," grassfed heavy cream/butter...and sadly the list doesn't go on much past there - as a treat I will sometimes have a piece of dark chocolate, make a small batch of almond flour shortbread cookes on the weekend and sometimes a raspberry hard cider. I guess I am worried that taking away my treats and dairy are going to leave me with...well: meat, eggs, carrots, cauliflower, rasperries, apples and limited nuts...

Hmmm....that does sound unique!

You're pretty set on the proteins but ya, you'll be pretty limited in the veggie department.  Can you try roasting some veggies? Often the sugars in them will caramalize and that really changes the entire taste and texture profile of them.  Plus, you can roast the veggies together (carrots, potatoes, brocoli, onion, zucchini) but you can eat them individually.

Salad greens?
