sunshinestate24
Can you make butter using heavy cream, like in a food processor, and then clarify it? We made butter at a girl scout function, and it was amazing that we simply shook a jar of room temperature cream and voila ! It was butter. I thought this would be an inexpensive way to make my own clarified butter, without confiscating all the butter in the house.

Munkers
You may not be saving as much money as you think. A pint of cream does not make a pint of butter because you'll have whey to discard from the process. You may want to do some price checking and look at how much butter you can get from X amount of cream and then look at price of cream versus price of butter. Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted March 6, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 6, 2015 Remember, that butter is only as good as the quality of the milk. I make a point to buy grassfed butter to make mine. Of course, you don't have to do this, but Kerrygold is readily available in many grocery stores. Munkers
Kerrygold is also DELICIOUS. I seriously didn't understand why people were so nuts over butter until I tried Kerrygold. Now I get it.
sunshinestate24
Thank you all. You were right? I made some butter this weekend, and the cream has more "bad" ingredients than the butter. Plus, at Costco, you can get a lot of butter for a very little price, so it was a great experiment, but I'm going back to buying butter instead of making it. Live and learn!
