Natural Calm

Hello! On day 15 of my first Whole30. I'm feeling pretty good, eating well, and drinking plenty of water.

I have been experiencing increasing difficulty sleeping, last night being the worst where I was awake most of the night fretting and worrying. I usually have no trouble in this area. I am also experiencing some significant constipation, surprising since I am drinking A LOT of water and eating more vegetables and fruit and than normal. I'm beginning to get a little frantic...

After reading the recommendations I went to my local health food store in search of "Natural Calm." I was able to find some there, only they did not have the unflavored version. There is stevia in it. Apparently I can order the flavorless version on Amazon but I am desperate for some rest and would like to try some tonight. A slip is a slip I suppose, but I'd hate to see my success derailed.

Any thoughts?

There is no pass for being desperate. You could swing by a drug store and buy Epsom salts and soak in a tub of hot water with some. You will thus soak up some magnesium through your skin and get a sedating effect that way.

I actually found unflavoured Natural Calm in my grocery store.  Maybe try another store!  It definitely works though...i have been taking it for both better sleep and constipation (that i've only experienced since starting the program) and i did wonders for both.

Oral magnesium supplements (tablets) can also be used. Magnesium citrate will give you the best combination of being easy to absorb, but still being affordable. Start with a low dose and work your way up. If you develop diarrhea then lower your dose for a day or two. You can also use topical magnesium oil which a spray carried by various health food stores. You could probably find it in some supplement shops as well.
