cassweaver
Hey guys, So I'm on day 12, after getting to day 5 and starting over--*twice*. It just seems crazy to me that I am not even halfway done! I feel like I have been doing Whole30 for an eternity. Will ice cream ever pass my lips again?! I am so tempted to throw in the towel because I don't feel like I can do it. I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. On the other hand, I know that I still have issues to work through with my eating (just binged on larabars yesterday...), so part of me is glad I still have time to do that and turn this Whole30 around. But still! Gosh. How has it only been 12 days?
Administrators ladyshanny Posted March 13, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 13, 2015 The first few days are hard, no doubt. Give yourself a pat on the back for being at Day 12. And I guess if you want to look at it, you've been doing Whole30 for 22 days if you include the 5 compliant days before you had to start over twice for whatever reason that was. So ya, it probably does seem like you should be much further than Day 12. (but also, good on you for starting over when you went off plan) There is so much to learn and so much rebalancing for your body to do that it really needs the full 30 days. So while it might seem epically long to you, your body is using each day to the fullest, even if you can't necessarily see or feel it yet. You can do it. YOU can do it! You're doing it! And when you consider that "it" is simply eating real foods in quantities that suit your context, it seems crazy that we ever weren't doing "it". Ice cream will still be there when you get done.....but don't be super surprised if you don't want it or if it doesn't taste quite like you imagine it does! cayenne
One day at a time. TODAY I am eating great food etc. Soon it will add up to 30. I am not looking at the end of 30 days so hopefully this can go on until...... Life is too short to want to speed it along. Enjoy good food and cook well today and tomorrow will take care of itself. I look forward to the next meal of the day-not 2 weeks from now. Anything can happen!
EmilyK
I felt that way for about 3 weeks. And now I'm on day 27 and feel like I blinked and now I'm almost done. And my outlook on this whole process is a LOT more positive now than it was at day 12.
cinagain
LOL, Yes! I'm on day 24 and honestly, I'm sticking to it right now because it really is less than a week. That bit about making the commitment to do W30 for 30 days is what's keeping me on track.
Edesia
30 days seemed impossible to me, not just long. I could not make it through a weekend without some amount of unhealthy eating and drinking. I thought about doing Whole30 for a year because of that. Guess what? I'm on DAY 30 today!!! I can honestly say I feel better than I have EVER felt better in my life in so many ways. That was what kept me going each and every day. I needed to experience what was at the end of the rainbow, so to speak. You can do it!!!

Tanya K
I was on day 15 yesterday and felt so so so Ill. ( Had been eating eggs which now I know have a reaction to) I just wanted a packet of Jacobs cream crackers, dry, no cheese, no butter, just plain with a can of 7UP. I was nearly crying for the misery caused by my belly! When we were growing up when we had a tummy bug my mum would give me cream crackers and they always worked! So I was very very close of making excuses saying I was ill, that I would start again in a few weeks when I got my strength back. Then took a few minutes, listened to how my brain was trying to play tricks on me and I didn't go and get the cream crackers! I made broccoli instead and felt chuffed I did it. More so today I felt delighted I didn't give in. So now I'm on downward slope day 16. There were will be lots of moments when your brain will try to 'trick' you. Excuses will pop up all over the place, a friend or relative that you haven't seen in ages will call to your home, there's always a party or meeting or something that you hadn't expected, there will always be an excuse if you let it be an excuse. The brain is a bit mean like that I think. :-) But we shall prevail!
AuntJane
I agree that 30 days is a long time, especially before you hit day 20. BUT if I had actually started my Whole30 on Ash Wednesday as I had planned, I'd be done in a couple of days. The time is going to pass regardless. Due to my health and food issues, my ultimate goal is to make Whole30 a lifestyle rather than a month-long event, which puts things in a different perspective.
