Moderators ShannonM816 Posted March 15, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 15, 2015 So don't have salad and chicken. I rarely eat salad, because I don't really like it, and when I do have it, a lot of times it's a side along with other vegetables and some protein, not a main dish. Or sometimes it's really more something that I pile other food on top of, to get in more veggies. Check out The Clothes Make The Girl or Nom Nom Paleo for a lot of recipe ideas -- just double check that they're W30 compliant, but those two sites have quite a few that are. I love these salmon cakes, and you should be able to find all the ingredients easily. They reheat well, even if they've been frozen, so if you like them, you can double the recipe next time and have some in the freezer for days when you just can't stand cooking one more thing. These Asian Meatballs are good too -- I preferred the sweet potatoes cooked and mashed in them, not in chunks, but you may like the chunks. Make up some Comfort Noodles or some Belly Dance Beet Salad to go with them. Also, why are you eating egg whites for part of your eggs at M1? All the nutrition of the egg is in the yolk. 2 oz of chicken and an egg white is probably not enough protein in that M2 Your post-workout should be lean protein and starchy vegetables, no fat. BJS12345
I try not to eat starchy carbs in the morning. I can eat protein though instead of fat post wo. I try to keep cooked chicken breast on hand . I get stuck w protein options. I have to be more creative in that area. Also I guess I eat the egg white bc I already eat 3 whole eggs. I feel like it's so many eggs! I eat a big salad because it fills me up the most. I will definitely check out the websites you suggested. Thanks! Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2015 Too many whole eggs in a day is probably somewhere above 6-10. Seriously, I eat 21-24 eggs per week routinely. It is important to avoid fat and eat lean protein soon after a workout. Fat slows digestion and keeps lean protein from getting to your muscles as quickly as is ideal after a workout. When I began a Whole30, I soon made a plan to try every cut of meat in the grocery I had never tried before. This led to bison, lamb, duck, and dozens of cuts of beef and pork that I had never tried before. I soon left chicken parts behind and began cooking whole chickens, so I started eating a variety of chicken that I had not routinely eaten before. I learned to like liver, gizzards, and hearts. I started buying any fish in the seafood department that I had not tried before. Aside from lots of fish I had not tried (or heard of), I cooked squid, crab, and clams. Then I decided to try every vegetable in the produce department that I had never had before. This involved parsnips, red cabbage, rutabagas, plantains, taro, different peppers, red, yellow, and orange bell peppers, different mushrooms, egg plant, and lots of different salad items. Oh yeah, kale, chard, fresh beets, radishes, etc. You have 1000s of choices. Try something new every week if not every day.
BJS12345
Thanks Tom! I will definitely try your suggestions! I already cooked a whole chicken this morning for dinner. Looking forward to eating some dark meat!!
Krista Billows Rodriguez
Cooking a big chunk of pork with just a little salt on low all day in the crock pot gives me really delicious shredded meat that can be breakfast, lunch or dinner protein. I'm going to do the same this week with a beef roast. It's easy to get bored if your main source of protein is the same meal after meal. You can also year pinterest or instagram to search for w30 recipes. Just scrutinize the ingredients, often people label something w30 despite having non compliant ingredients
BJS12345
Yum! I definitely have to make a trip to the supermarket and buy some different meats. The pork sounds really good!
EmilyK
Venture on down the forum and take a look at people's food logs if you're looking for day to day inspiration. I can't imagine eating the same thing every single day for ten days, no wonder you're bored!
BJS12345
I change it up a little but it's usually a salad for lunch. I think adding red meats in will help a lot! I am just very tired of chicken!!!
frogtox
I spend a little time each day on Pinterest looking for recipe ideas. By the end of the week I have ideas for meals for the next and am able to build a grocery list to help me get ready. As much as I'm looking forward to day 30 of this plan, I'm enjoying the ride. I've already found a bunch of recipes and ways to prepare things that are new to me (lettuce wraps rock!). I think I'd have a harder time sticking to this new way of eating if I dreaded eating the same thing every day... so mixing it up is important. shortystylee
You may also want to check out the #whole30 tag on Instagram for some recipe ideas, just make sure that the food is actually whole30 compliant before deciding you want to have it
