Girl_in_DC
Yesterday (Day #14) I ordered a black iced coffee at Starbucks. Unsweetened. When I got my coffee, I put a straw in and took a big sip and swallowed. IT WAS SWEETENED!!! I asked them to make me another one. But the damage was already done. Do I have to start over? This wasn't MY fault. I don't know what to do....?!?
kirkor
So maybe you find yourself at Mom’s house for dinner on Day 28 asking, “Hey Mom, any sugar in this salad dressing?” And your mom says no, all clear, and you have a lovely family dinner. And as you’re cleaning up, Mom says, “There wasn’t sugar, but there was honey—that’s not the same though, honey is natural.” In this context, you’ve done everything you can do. You asked the right questions, got the right answers, and proceeded exactly on plan with the Whole30. As added sugar is unique in that it won’t disarm your “reset” button (and salad dressing isn’t likely to send you spiraling into sugar cravings), we can see a decision (especially on Day 28) to chalk it up to a learning experience and move on http://whole30.com/2014/06/really-start-whole30/
Krista Billows Rodriguez
I wouldn't start over for one sip of sweetened coffee, especially after you did the right thing both before and after discovering their error. I'm curious, did it taste gross? I would imagine it to be sweetness overload after two weeks with no sugar.
Girl_in_DC
Thank you Kirkor! KBR - Yes, it was very gross. The sugar taste was powerful and really overwhelming (if that makes sense) and not even enjoyable. It almost tasted like a sugary cough medicine. Blah...not good!
