Mellyxoo
So I bought some noodles a while back from an Asian market. The only ingredient is "sweet potato starch"... Would this be whole 30 compliant?
evaq
These are the Korean sweet potato noodles that are found in japchae, yes? Yummmmm. Compliant, yes. But whole 30 thumbs up? Umm, flashing yellow light and proceed with caution. The thing to keep in mind is context: yes it's sweet potato *but* it's still a processed food and not a whole food that you're eating. It's not as nutritionally valuable as eating a sweet potato. So I'd consider it a treat item on my whole 30 and portion it accordingly. And also add protein and a heap of veg, of course. GFChris
This has been discussed previously. Not a great option. See more here, for example http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/15651-sweet-potato-powder-noodles/ Easiest way to search the forum is via Google. Type Whole30 followed by whatever you're looking for. If you search Whole30 sweet potato noodles, you'll get the thread I listed plus other similar threads with similar responses.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2015 The Whole30 rules leave room for you to undermine your experience by making choices that we would never recommend. Sweet potato starch noodles is a choice that you can make that will contribute nothing positive to your Whole30 experience.
