WholeHearted
Not sure which thread to post this in... but I feel like this is a disaster! I'm on day 27 and have come down with the WORST throat infection I have ever had To top it off I'm managing my teething 17 month old on my own while my husband is out of the country. I'm not usually a fan of antibiotics and don't even remember the last time I used them... but I need this fixed FAST, so I'm off to the Dr now. I haven't seen anything about this in the book... maybe I missed it??... but is there any general guidance about taking them when you are on the Whole30?? Thanks! Laura B
Hopefully a Mod will come in with the best answer, but I do know that it is highly recommended that if you take antibiotics you also take probitotics at the same time (if you aren't already). I think if you already take a probiotic, I would recommend also drinking some kombucha or eating some raw sauerkraut each day you are on the antibiotics to help your tummy stay equal Get well soon! Renee Lee
Yes! Doctor's orders trump the W30 guidelines! If you're very concerned about contamination, be aware of the filler ingredients, look out for soy, wheat and dairy (dairy's less likely, but you never know). and DEFINITELY take a probiotic with it, and continue the probiotics after your course of antibiotics is done. Laura Francis
I may have this totally wrong but when I studied nutrition we were told there is not much point taking a probiotic when taking antibiotics as the antibiotic will just kill the probiotic bacteria. However you should take a high quality human strain probiotic afterwards, the highest strength you can find. I prefer Biocare Acidopholus Forte. Probiotic drinks are pretty pointless as they don't repopulate the gut they only work in transit as they are all made with bovine strain bacteria. Sarah Price McBride
I didn't bother researching it, but when I started the W30, I also started a course of antibiotics. I had already planned on starting the W30, so I wasn't going to let anything get in my way. I only had to make sure that I ate a decent breakfast, and I took the pill during my meal. The evening pill didn't make me nauseous, so I didn't necessarily have to take it with food. My course was for 7 days, and it didn't do anything to me besides cure me...as far as I can tell!
