Mustard

Like yellow mustard. It's allowed, right? I made a burger today using lettuce as a bun and put some mustard on it.

Ingredients:

Distilled white vinager, mustard seed, water, salt, turmeric (no idea what that is), paprika, spices, garlic powder, natural flavor

Turmeric is a spice that helps bump up the yellow factor in mustard (like Heinz) and it is also a component in most commercial curry powders--it is what gives it the yellow color. Turmeric is also reported to be good for inflammation and is used in a tea that is supposed to help ward off illness. There are several recipes on pinterest if you are interested in looking that up! I used turmeric tea when my husband was so sick a couple weeks back with this mess that is going around and I didn't catch a thing. The tea recipe I found is similar to a chai.

I have been questioning, and for the time being, avoiding, any foods with "natural flavors" as an ingredient. Google what's in "natural flavoring". "Natural fllavors" are added to foods for taste appeal value and can contain up to 50-100 different ingredients, all undisclosed. Some of the natural fllavors can come from foods not compliant on W30, like dairy or can be things that are not even foods to begin with. It's a very small amount, sure, but as long as I am making a conscious effort to avoid even small amounts of additives even in things like vitamins and aspirin, I have chosen to add this one to my list of things to avoid. It is hard to avoid this ingredient because it is added to so many things. I think it's one of those up to you," decisions.
