colleen macneil
On day 3 all is well but wondering how to get past this coffee issue. I've read several people go through the long process of making bulletproof coffee. Seems like too much work. Black isn't an option for me, tried and tried just can't manage it. Wondering about using coconut milk as I've seen others mention? Is it straight from the can or do you allow the cream to rise and use that? Carlaccini
My first whole 30 I went 10 days without coffee (I was a double cream double sugar gal). I became so desperate for coffee that I decided that I would try it black. It wasn't so bad. Now I drink it either black or with coconut milk from a can. With coconut milk is a bit of a "treat" for me. This may sound strange but I actually enjoy coffee much more now than before. Before it was a drink that I used as a pick-me-up in the morning. Administrators ladyshanny Posted March 25, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 25, 2015 I actually find coconut milk in a tetra pack that is just coconut milk and water so it's pourable, I just pour it in like you would a coffee creamer. I have used the one in the can before also, I used to open the can and pour the liquid and the thick cream into my magic bullet and then blend it together. It stayed pretty pourable that way too. I just stir it in, can't bother with the blender in the morning, no time!
Physibeth
I did the work of learning to drink black coffee before my Whole30. One of the secrets is to get really good coffee. It takes some getting used to but now I really enjoy it.
EmilyK
I used coconut milk for the first week or so, then went to black for 2 weeks, then realized I didn't need coffee anymore and I didn't like it enough to drink it just because. I switched to a chai/oolong blend I get from my local tea shop which gives me some warmth a gentle lift in the mornings and it tastes super yummy. Loulabelle
The secret is to get really good coffee and one that suits your taste buds. With good beans from a good supplier you can taste all the different characteristics of the bean, some are a little sour others a little sweet others are fruity. My favourite at the moment is a wild coffee from Didu in Ethiopia, it is a little nutty with a hint of caramel and makes a wonderful espresso. Life is too short to drink bad coffee. colleen macneil
Thanks for the help will try the coconut milk tomorrow. If that doesn't do the trick I may just step away from coffee.
AuntJane
I never was a coffee drinker, I used to get my caffeine from diet Coke. Now that sodas are no longer an option, I have learned to enjoy coffee, but I can go without caffeine most days too. It's just nice to have something to drink besides water sometimes. I never put anything in my coffee, but I do half coffee and half hot water, because plain black coffee is too strong for me.

Loulabelle
I buy all my coffee in Switzerland but if you like I can give you the names of the beans to search for suppliers where you live?
jent103
Peggy - I get mine from a local roaster. If you live in or near a city, there's a good chance you have one near you.

If you live in or near a city, there's a good chance you have one near you. +1 for the local roaster, we would never go back to grocery store coffee. Never. Our local roaster also has two blowout sales a year where they sell their 1# bags for $10 each...so we usually stock up, ultimately making gourmet, ethically sourced, locally roasted coffee not much more pricey than grocery store.
