mimi36
I know balsamic is ok without sugar added. My balsamic has Carmel color added, is that considered a sugar? I looked at all balsamic vinegars and they have that. Anyone know if this is ok or know of one that is. Thanks
Robin Strathdee
The short answer is: it could be, but it might not. Your best option is to look for an organic Balsamic without that added, however, it shouldn't cause trouble for you.
Phanniemae
While we're on the subject... What about sulfites in balsamic? Is this an additive or an effect of the fermentation?
Robin Strathdee
Same answer ;0) It's my understanding that organic balsamics do not have any added sulfites, but some may be naturally occurring. The label usually denotes which is which. You want to avoid the added sulfites, but the naturally occurring are fine.
Susan W
I just went and looked at my bottle of Organic Balsamic. It's from WF and is from Napa Valley Naturals. It has Organic Balsamic Vinegar and Organic Grape Must (and now I will go google to see what that is) and specifically says "No carmel coloring" and "contains naturally occurring sulfites".
