Best Vanilla Powder Brand

Calypso

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a recommendation? I bought one (very expensive) and it tastes like dirt and has no vanilla scent. Seriously disappointing.

If I'm doing a Whole100 I might just have to make an exception for Vanilla extract... find one without alcohol or something. Unless you guys know of a brand that actually adds vanilla flavor to coffee or baked fruit or whatever I want to use it for. :)

I'm wondering what you need the vanilla flavoring for. I can easily go more than 30 days without using any vanilla at all, even when I'm not on a W30. If it's to flavor coffee, maybe you need to try something else instead. Cinnamon is a nice flavor in coffee, and easy to find a compliant version. I'm just having trouble figuring out what else you could be eating that needs to be vanilla flavored and is still W30 compliant that you can't live without for 30 days.

You could throw apple slices in a dish with cinnamon and real vanilla bean pod..heat it up for a tad.  I can actually handle apples heated up better than raw.  That surpasses dried fruit chips or fruit/nut bars, if you know what I mean, jmcbn. 88.gif

Totally missed the baked fruit listed in the OP, I really need to learn to read more carefully .

You can definitely bake fruit without vanilla, if you choose to have baked fruit. I personally would stick to fresh fruit, it's much less sweet and less likely to keep your sugar dragon alive, but if you really wanted to have some, just sprinkle it with cinnamon and bake. Whole30 is about doing things in new ways and trying new foods, and it's only 30 days.

I'm definitely on the "no go" team for baked fruits, personally. Baking/cooking concentrates their sugary flavour as Shannon mentioned above and for me it sparks up my sugar dragon and I find myself in the kitchen seeking through the cupboards for something.  Depending on the person's context, maybe it would be alright for them. If you are going to do baked fruit though, do it immediately after the meal, not as a dessert alone or you will get a blood sugar spike which causes all sorts of problems!

A baked apple doesn't move me.   I can bake apple slices over the top of sweet potato slices with cinnamon and I don't think it's dope. I can take it or leave it.   I often throw blackberries or raspberries with a twist of lemon over sweet potatoes with a sprinkle of cinnamon.   I can have a few bites and meh.  Fruit doesn't entice me...baked or fresh.
