Justin91
This is day two for me. My wife is also doing the whole 30. I must say that it would be nearly impossible for me to do this without her help and support. I work a lot of hours and she does most of the cooking and prep work. I try to help out when I can, one of the reasons I am doing this - to get more energy to help around the house and spend more active time with my son without wearing down so quickly. My main goal is to establish a sustainable healthy lifestyle, including healthy whole foods and lots of activity. I have tried many diets, most will work to drop off weight in the short term, but no matter what diet you are essentially starving yourself. This is not sustainable. I am borderline diabetic, I have eczema, and a few other health issues. I am hoping the W30 will help me gain some control of what I am putting into my body. This is always tough, for I love food. This will be our 2nd W30, and during first W30 I remember not having any cravings for sugar, and it is amazing that after a few days without sugar, a piece of fruit tastes as sweet as a piece of candy. Day 1: yesterday went good! Stayed compliant. Started getting withdraw headache from caffeine. Today fo breakfast: Hard boiled eggs and veggies. Justin91
Lunch: Left over blackened tilapia with homemade tarter sauce on a bed of baked asparagus that my wife made for Dinner last yesterday. A handful of strawberries to finish it off. I have a lot of energy so far today. but it comes and goes. I seam to run out of steam a little faster than usual. Headache is gone so that is a relief! Justin91
Yesterday for M3 we had pulled Kalua pork from NNP, very good. We served this with broiled green beans. I went to bed early, 8:30 asleep by 9:00 after some reading to get up at 2:00. Working 12's and trying to do the whole 30 will be challenging. Luckily my wife has been a tremendous support! This morning was also a challenge, one I will have to get used to. There is a tradition where I work, that if you come in early at 3AM someone cooks a big breakfast, unless we are to busy at the time. This morning was no different, I smelled the bacon and sausage cooking from the kitchen at 4:30. At 5 it was done, biscuits, gravy, bacon and eggs, the works. I went to the fridge and got my Tupperware full of egg scramble that I had prepared last night and warmed it in the microwave. The non compliant food surrounded me, it looked and smelled good, everyone was practically tripping over each other filling their plates. When everyone realized I was not partaking in the festivities I walked the verbal gauntlet to my seat to eat my delicious compliant meal. I spent about 20 minutes eating and answering a few questions thrown as barbs at me. There was a couple of guys who seemed to be interested, but most was trying to get me to eat some of the smorgasbord that was set before them. Keep in mind, I used to eat this way, I would try to limit my intake, but this happened most mornings, and my biggest weakness is pancakes. But I have my eye on the prize, to get in shape for myself and family. Just keeping my eye on the prize!
Justin91
Today is day 4 and it is a great day! Up until late last night because of storms rolling through, none were severe, but the threat was there. Today is another round of severe weather. Good news is I did not have to come in early this morning, but I am working 12's this weekend. M1 - 3 hard boiled eggs and a handful of grapes. M2 - Sauerkraut, Brussel sprouts, meatloaf and 1/2 sweet potato with a little clarified butter and cinnamon. Energy feels good today, headaches are going away as well. Played basketball with my son yesterday evening. Planning on walking at lunch if the weather allows.
